Product Description

From Amazon.com

"Classical crossover" albums are big business these days; discs that combine elements of folk or pop vocals with classical music. But here's one for the record books: "Australia's Queen of Yodelling," Mary Schneider, transforming some best-loved arias into something entirely her own. You get a little Rossini, a taste of Strauss, a hint of Brahms, and some Beethoven, but--more than anyone else--you get a lot of Schneider. She sings, she jokes, she yodels, and--throughout the whole mess--she's hilarious. The Sydney International Orchestra is led by the conducting prowess of Maestro Tommy Tycho. Classical lovers with a sense of humor--make that anyone with a sense of humor--need to hear this. Schneider is a jewel, and this, without a doubt, is the best yodelling CD you'll hear all year. --Jason Verlinde

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a keeper - still laughing, May 15 2004
By Muddy Jeep Bob (San Diego CA/Missoula, Montana) - See all my reviews
I collect 'gagger' music including Mrs. Elva Miller, Annette Funicello, Hayley Mills, The Wicked Good Band/Maine Cookin', Tammy Faye Bakker singing the "Ballad of Jimmy and Tammy", etc.

Yodeling the Classics was added to the top of this list. Lots of fun to listen to and well produced. Great cross-country road music travelin' the 2 lane highways of America in my trusty Jeep Wrangler.

Need to copy this CD to my wire recorder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knockout, Oct 8 2003
By John Hall (Perth, WA Australia) - See all my reviews
Nothing in my life had prepared me for the experience of listening to Mary Schneider's interpretation of the William Tell Overture or the Overture to Carmen. Florence Foster Jenkins has her devotees, and Signor Moreschi a small - I presume - band of worshippers, but Mary Schneider is without peer.
I freely admit that such has been the emotion which her resolute interpretation of the pieces I have mentioned roused in me that I have as yet been unable to continue listening to the subsequent tracks. You will have to discover for yourselves these doubtless equally unforgettable offerings from a unique talent.
