5.0 out of 5 stars If only...., May 17 2004
If only they'd kept on this course! Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the direction they went in but IF ONLY they'd lived up to the potential showcased on this album. 22 tracks in just over half an hour sounds terrible but there is such quality contained in that half hour. Sounding like a mix of Neu!, at their most industrial-esque,and Public image, minus the vocals; Produkt Der is a one-off! Fans of industrial, electro punk will have a big fat bulge in their trousers getting to know this. It's so savage. Driving, hypnotic, electronic rock music - truly groundbreaking.Anyone who has heard Primal Scream's Exterminator will get where this album is at; think shoot/speed/kill light off that album and your getting closer( although Exterminator came 20 years after Produkt Der). Fans of Krautrock, early industrial and electro punk will dig this! An album of hypnotic, relentless, goddamn filthy electro punk for technologically inspired anarchists everywhere. Ignore all negative reviews - this album kicks serious ass!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bark! BarkBark!, Dec 10 2003
By Mark Champion "autumnfair" (San Antonio, TX United States) - See all my reviews

My window was open the first time I listened to this way back when. In a relative lull toward the end of what was the cacophonous first side of the LP, I thought I heard a squirrel barking outside. As there was a huge pecan tree out there, that would be no real surprise. Squirrels hate cats though, and as my cat was (so I thought) outside I thought I'd better take a peek out of that window. Well, it wasn't a squirrel after all. My cat was curled up and lolling comfortably on the bedroom floor. The sound was coming from the speaker of my stereo. Imagine that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame, Dec 9 2003
By Travis Miller (Shepherdstown, WV United States) - See all my reviews

I really liked some of the reckless, nihilistic, absurdist material on DAF's "Die Kleinen und die Bösen", so I decided to check out this album. I feel ripped off.

It's a bunch of very short clips of aimless, poorly recorded cacophony, spliced together in a rather artless fashion. It sounds like a poorly organized teenage punk band practicing interminably in the garage next door. The clips are over before you even have a chance to get your musical bearings. It's like listening to a rehearsal tape, warts and all.

Check out "Die Kleinen und die Bösen" instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Experiments
This doesn't fully make up for DAF's sound as it is a bunch of small cuts pasted together in the manner of the early Faust albums, only deploying a compact version of the noisy... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A unique rock record of brief improvisations
This is DAF's first record effort, dating from 1979. Who knows what made them change course. but this stuff now seems much more interesting than the simple black leather disco... Read more
