From Amazon.com

If The Phantom Menace was the setup, then Attack of the Clones is the plot-progressing payoff, and devoted Star Wars fans are sure to be enthralled. Ten years after Episode I, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), now a senator, resists the creation of a Republic Army to combat an evil separatist movement. The brooding Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is resentful of his stern Jedi mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), tormented by personal loss, and showing his emerging "dark side" while protecting his new love, Amidala, from would-be assassins. Youthful romance and solemn portent foreshadow the events of the original Star Wars as Count Dooku (a.k.a. Darth Tyranus, played by Christopher Lee) forges an alliance with the Dark Lord of the Sith, while lavish set pieces showcase George Lucas's supreme command of all-digital filmmaking. All of this makes Episode II a technological milestone, savaged by some critics as a bloated, storyless spectacle, but still qualifying as a fan-approved precursor to the pivotal events of Episode III. --Jeff Shannon

Additional Features

Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones is a superior DVD, repeating many of the elements that made its predecessor, Episode I, The Phantom Menace, so good. The picture and sound are spectacular, helped immensely by the fact that the film was shot entirely in digital, making this the first live-action direct digital-to-digital DVD transfer. This version of the film was the one shown in digital theaters; there are subtle differences from the standard theatrical version, such as showing Anakin's right hand in the final scene. Again, there's a commentary track compiled from various people, including George Lucas (why can't he pronounce the names he created?), producer Rick McCallum, editor Ben Burtt, ILM animation director Rob Coleman, and three visual effects supervisors discussing how the film was made and offering teasers to Episode III.

On the second disc are eight deleted scenes with optional introductions. Most interesting are a scene of Padme addressing the Senate to oppose the creation of a Republic army, and some bits with her family and home on Naboo, but it's probably telling that, unlike with Phantom Menace, none of the deleted scenes was incorporated into the film on the DVD. Three substantial documentaries on digital characters, animatics, and creating sound elements are complemented by three insubstantial featurettes, a recycled but interesting 12-part Web documentary, and various other items that should keep fans busy while they wait for Episode III. --David Horiuchi

4.0étoiles sur 5 The power of fantasy: re-watching all the Star Wars saga, Nov. 23 2009

ON A COLD WINTER DAY, LIVE AGAIN THE EPIC ADVENTURE THAT MADE HISTORY: We just had a re-run of all the Star Wars movies. Somehow, when this Episode II came out I was not too enthus about it and did not buy it. Mistake! You need this one, too, in order to understand the whole story and, after watching it again, I decided to buy it. It is always unsettling when your hero is on the way to become the bad-guy, but it is worth doing it, as it is part of the journey. You cannot fully undrstand Episode III without watching first Episode II. Next time, we'll try a time-line re-run, starting from Episode I and finishing with VI: I think seeing the Anakin's story of redemption chronologically, will leave us all with a better after taste.Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (Full Screen)

1.0étoiles sur 5 A Disgrace, Sep 24 2008

Simply put, Attack of the Clones is the worst movie in the entire saga. From the stilted dialogue, to the wooden performances, to the CG sets. This movie is so far removed from original fun spirit of Star Wars that it's hard to even consider it canon.
Even Christophor Lee (who's been in some bad movies) looks like he just wants to leave. The direction is boring by the numbers. Natalie Portman's character turns into a belly shirt wearing pin-up girl (her daughter, Leia, would be ashamed) and Anakin whines and pouts way too much. And they once again kill the cool antagonist so he won't be there for the third film.

Disc has lots of features if you want to see some more bad acting in the deleted scenes, features of special effects (ILM needs some new tricks because Peter Jackson's WETA digital is fast surpassing them). And possibly some of the most boring commentary ever heard on a movie.

I really hope Lucas never pens another movie, he needs to let the franchise go and give others a shot at it.

Attack of the Clones is a better effort than "The Phantom Menace".in
chapter two we've moved ahead a few years.Anakin Skywalker is now a
teenager,(and we begin to see the dark side emerge in him)and a
headstrong pupil of Obi-Wan Kinobi(Ewan McGregor)McGregor should have
received an Academy Award for his uncannily bang on portrayal of young
Obi-Wan.he had the intonation of Alec Guinness, who would play Obi-wan
as an old man.truly amazing.anyway, back to the movie.again beautiful to
look at,not so strong in the stray dept, though ti does advance the
movie a little bit.tons of action.as a matter of fact too much, too many
things going on to keep track of.also some fairly big leaps in
logic,and some suspect acting.still and all,better than "Phantom" 3.5/5
