Product Description

Amazon.ca Canadian Essential

This Juno-award-winning sophomore effort seemed to legitimize Canada's much-discussed and highly touted "post-rock" scene. Drawing on a revolving cast of 11 members, Broken Social Scene's guitar driven, orchestral and amazingly diverse rock entranced hipsters and rock fans alike with its sweeping themes and impressive sonic force. -- S. Duda

Album Description

Broken Social Scene materialized in 1999 when K.C. Accidental's Kevin Drew & Brendan Canning, formerly of By Divine Right, bonded their friendship into a band. During the next few years, Broken Social Scene created an atmospheric rock sound. Feel Good Lost marked their debut album in 2001 & introduced a revolving cast of Canadian indie musicians. Drew's fellow mate from Do Make Say Think was added to the band, as well as Evan Cranley (Stars), James Shaw, & Emily Haines (Metric). You Forgot It in People showcased Broken Social Scene's expansive musical design in October 2002. Digipak. Copy Controlled. Arts & Crafts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Go Wrong, Sep 24 2005
By A Customer
This album just makes you mellow and want to cruise at the same time. My all-time favourite for on the road, or out by foot. Foundation of a great music collection & will introduce you to other artists you will love. Ranks in my all-around top 5, if not number 1. Hooray for BSS.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's almost a crime..., Jul 10 2004
By J. Olmedo "salsa shark" (CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
that anyone would rate this below a 5!!!! I understand some people's frustration at more mellow tracks like "Looks Just Like The Sun" but sheesh...the stronger tracks are REALLY strong. and the "okay" ones are pretty good, infinitely better than other groups' throwaway tracks. (In my opinion, the "bad" songs on here are much better than the "bad" songs on Hail To The Thief, and I am a much bigger Radiohead fan than a BSS one...)

Listen to this album with an open mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for the moment, Jun 29 2004
By Sooz (Vancouver) - See all my reviews
I bought the CD 1 month ago, and I have been listening to it everyday eversince. Everytime i listen to it , i hear something different and refreshing. This album is so atomspheric, it's like a soundtrack of a movie or something. When I listen to it on the bus...see the scenes passing by.....you totally sink in to the music . This album's got so much emotions in it. A lot of people dont understand what the hype is about....there's no hype...it's just what you feel at the moment along with the music . If you feel melancholy....this is the great album to listen to.
