3.0 out of 5 stars love/hate, Feb 8 2005
By Julia Payson (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) - See all my reviews

i have a hard time with this dvd. while i love the three different routines, and i love the rythm, there are some things that drive me nuts.

i don't understand why she switches up her left and right so much! as well, she doesn't offer modifications that would allow people to get into some of the postures more deeply.

finally, the deep relaxation at the end is incredibly short. in the main session, it is less than a minute. this dvd is getting marketed to people who practice regularily and i don't get why they didn't do a proper relaxation. give me two minutes at least!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, Jan 8 2007
By C. A. Misiaszek "marblebomb" (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this dvd a year ago and am still using it. That alone is a great feat since it is easy to get bored from excercising to the same video. What makes this video work is the way it is broken up. Sometimes before I go to bed and I feel tense from work and I have half hour till I should be sleeping I put it on for the PM deep relaxing stretch. It helps me fall asleep and I wake up feeling really great the next day. It is not an excercise where I feel I will lose weight and burn alot of caleries but just feel better. Sometimes on the weekend if I feel very lazy to get up and start my day and I have half an hour to spare I turn to the AM yoga and get enegized and sweaty to get in the shower and go. And for those days where I feel I have alot of time I do the one hour Yoga routine. I love the way she talks, I love the music, and I love how it fits into my lifestyle so perfectly. All I am looking for now is some more strength training and cardio videos to complement what I am doing already.

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointed, Jul 3 2006
By DJG Mike (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
Ive purchased this DVD because it had such rave reviews. Id have to say that Im extremely disappointed in this purchase.

I find the instruction is poor and un-clear. There is no mention of an inhale before chanting ohm, no proper warm-up is included before you start getting into some serious stretches. There are no alternate routines for those who are not flexible. The voice of the instructor sounds more like shes trying to seduce you, rather than to give instruction. Yoga instruction should allow you to close your eyes and follow the routine and this DVD doesnt allow that. All youre given is an attractive woman in tight clothes performing an advanced stretching routine. If that was the intention, than youve succeeded. Perhaps I will play this at my next party with no sound;) Are the spiritual benefits of yoga even considered? Personally, I say they are not, which goes against everything yoga stands for. If that is the intention, than why not do something that is for strictly physical benefits such as pilates or weight training?

Thanks for trying to westernize something, but I think you missed the point.

Id recommend any of the Sampoorna Yoga DVDs over this one (especially if your looking for something authentic). When practicing from those DVDs you actually feel that youre in the presence of great wisdom, strength, and above all spirituality. If youre looking for something more rigorous, Id recommend any of the RaviAna DVDs in the fatfree yoga series. Westernized yes, but they did it with clear instruction, and a bit more class.

Regards,

MH

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, hip yoga DVD
