From Amazon.com

The sci-fi-themed teen drama Roswell begins its third and final season with Max (Jason Behr) and Liz (Shiri Appleby) back together and taking a desperate chance to find Max's son. After the many cosmic concepts of the previous season, the series dialed back the mythology to focus on the more--excuse the expression--human aspects of the characters. Roswell was often described as Dawson's Creek meets The X-Files, and accordingly Isabel (Katherine Heigel) finds romance with a lawyer (Adam Rodriguez), but struggles both with her mixed feelings about revealing her alien identity and with the aftermath of the tragedy in season 2. (The romance is later spoofed in a Bewitched-style episode.) At the same time, Max and Michael (Brendan Fehr) travel to Los Angeles in search of an alien bounty hunter that might be able to help them find Max's son. (They also find Roswell executive producer Jonathan Frakes making a guest appearance as himself.) Michael takes a night job that at first is played for laughs (in "Michael, the Gang, and the Great Snapple Caper"), then takes on threatening implications in a rousing two-parter that eventually leaves all parties not too much different from how they started. Michael also struggles in his relationship with Maria (Majandra Delfino), first when he makes new friends and later when she meets a figure from her past (Clayne Crawford) who revives a longtime music dream that might lead to bigger things. All the while, the alien trio faces the constant struggle of keeping their identities secret, even as the net seems to be tightening around them. When a key character returns in the series' penultimate episode, both the aliens and the humans they love face a critical decision.

The Dawson's Creek comparison is also valid in an undesirable way: many of the background songs that characterized the series have been replaced for DVD due to licensing expenses. Newcomers to the series, of course, probably won't notice. Four episodes have commentary tracks, two by Frakes, who has some interesting information but leaves dead air and introduces characters we already know. Better are the tracks by executive producer/writer Ronald D. Moore on the Bewitched spoof and by creator Jason Katims on the series finale. Other features are a 13-minute summary of the season and Shiri Appleby's appearance on Japanese TV to publicize the DVD release of the first season in 2004. --David Horiuchi

Description

Having grown up in Roswell with only a few close friends aware of their alien origins, Max, Isabel, and Michael have finally come of age. Uncertain about what lies ahead of them after graduation, they are suddenly forced into action when it becomes clear that the incidents in which they have used their alien powers to help others have finally caught up with them. As the Air Force and FBI close in, the trio realizes that Roswell is no longer the safe haven it once was. As they prepare to leave their friends and families behind, Liz has a shocking vision which makes everyone realize that it is not only the aliens who are in danger but their human friends as well.

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The critically acclaimed cult TV series built on the relationships between humans and aliens gets its send off with the release of its last season on DVD, after a rather bumpy ride through the archives of lost shows. The Final Chapter (Season 3) broadcast on UPN about three of four teenage aliens struggling to find their identity and purpose on earth brings Max Evans, Isabel Evans, Michael Guerin and determined Tess Harding to the questions we've all been seeking - what will become of the "Royal four?" Will they return to their home planet and save their race? And can Max and Liz ever be together? Its graduation year as the alien trio with their loyal human friends come of age in a period of uncertainty as the truth about who they are and their alien powers can no longer be hidden from the FBI.

The season takes off from S2 cliffhanger, Tess is gone leaving Liz & Max searching to find his son. What differentiates this season from the rest is each of the characters are now moving in different directions, representative of the end of high school and times gone by. The Crash Down café, focal point for the pilot & subsequent seasons where our friends would meet & hang out is much of a distant memory. As the Air Force and FBI close in, it becomes inevitable that its not only the aliens who are in danger, their human friends will also have to pay the price for keeping their secret. No one is safe anymore and home seems lost forever. Fans of the show are divided when it comes to Season 3 following its production by UPN. Where as WBs Season 1 blended a mix of high school anguish, romance & sci-fi action, Season 2 took the plot lines further focusing more on the sci-fi element. With the switch to UPN, Season 3 dwells even further into the whole conspiracy, still maintaining the romantic thread through. But much of the camaraderie of the earlier seasons is now gone, also serving as a reflection of life in itself - we all grow up and start to follow our own dreams and deal with our own issues. While some story lines might not have had the time to fully play out, S3 will always be a favorite for fans of this cult show, which in its 3 years run blended beautifully life's most simple human elements with the supernatural.

While the magnificent folks at RoswellMovie.net are working hard to convince executives to make a feature film based on the series, this is the one fans have been waiting for, loaded with all 18 Episodes From The Final Season, commentaries and bonus featurettes. Like the prior seasons, the release will feature new cutting-edge songs selected by the original Roswell music team - Those of you complaining about it take heart! The show would never have made it to DVD if this had not been done - while the original music of Roswell helped define the show, its a small price to pay to have the entire series available on DVD & in all fairness, the producers have managed to do justice with the new soundtracks. So sit back & enjoy the show presented in 1.78:1 widescreen with English Dolby 5.1.!

This is definetly a great way to end a fantastic series. Keeps the fans satisfied yet still leaving a door open for the future if they want to make another season. Those Jason Behr fans will be swooning for the duration and yup fella's even some eye candy to keep you happy. Best DVD I've bought in a long time.
