Description

Down-home humor and an endearing cast of characters helped to make The Andy Griffith Show one of the most beloved comedies in the history of television. Introduced as a spinoff from The Danny Thomas Show in 1960, The Andy Griffith Show ran for eight seasons in prime time. Widower Andy Taylor divides his time between raising his young son, Opie, and his job as sheriff (and Justice of the Peace) of the sleepy North Carolina town, Mayberry. Andy and Opie live with Andy's Aunt Bee, who serves as a surrogate mother to both father and son. Andy's nervous cousin, Barney Fife, is his deputy sheriff whose utter incompetence is tolerated because Mayberry is virtually crime-free.

Ahhh, Season Three. Season 3 Is sometime's hailed as the Best Season of The Andy Griffith Show. It contain's the often Fan favorite episode "Man In A Hurry" and it also contain's another Top 20 episode "Mr. McBeevee". Season 3 is where new charecters start to arrive. We see The first Appearence of that ever so popular goof, Gomer Pyle, and we also see The first appearence of Andy's final girl that would last the rest of the sereis, Helen Crump. This is also Mayor Stoner's year of The Andy Griffith Show. Other fan favorite's you will find are "The Loaded Goat" and "Convicts-At-Large".

My Personal Top 10 Favorite's Of Season 3 Would Probally Be Something like This :

- "Barney And The Govenor"

- "Mr. McBeevee"

- "Convicts-At-Large"

- "Lawman Barney"

- "Andy's English Valet"

- "Floyd The Gay Deciever"

- "The Darlings Are Comeing"

- "Man In A Hurry"

- "Class Reunion"

- "Rafe Hollister Sings"

Other notible thing's about Season 3, are that Three Future Guest Star's would make there debut's, Ernest T Bass, The Darling's and Malcom Meriweather, My favorite of three would be Malcom Meriweather. He is just very calm, relaxed and funny. Not wild like Ernest T, but just Very up-beat. You will also get Four episode's with Andy's third girl Peggy. Alot of people like her best, so give her a chance! She is fun, up-beat and Very pretty.

Two of my favorite Barney line's are in this Season as well. One in "Rafe Hollister Sing's" where Barney goe's, "Who-Who-Yuck-Yuck". That line kill's me! The other being more popular, is the one where Barney Goe's, "Now Here At The Rock We Have Two Basic Rules". To Funny!

As far as the DVD packaging and Special Features are, here's my opinion. The packaging is great and even better then the previous two season's. On the back you finally have the episode guide there, so you don't have to scramble through the disc's of your season to find a certain one. Just look on the back to find what disc has the certain episode your looking for. The Disc's come in Slim Jewel Cases like the previous. Under the disc is a breif episode description for the episode's on that disc. The special feature's are VERY mediocore. Why not load the season's with goodie's like they did for "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Gilligan's Island"? Just original Sponser Spot's, which are enjoyable. Im not gonna complain though, at least there on DVD!

Conclusion : Buy this season if your already a fan looking to re-live and watch the episode's again, or if your new to the show and would like a refreshing change from the BAD comedy on TV today. Pick your Season up now!

I assume that this being the third season, that you now know what you have bought. Now you are ready for episodes 64 through 95. I also assume that you did not get your fix with just the first two seasons.

For those people who are buying the third season (1962-63), before viewing the first, the Andy Griffith Show is unique in a sense that it started out fun and had all the standard encounters and stories that most TV programs had but it never deteriorate or got so left field as to lose its appeal. Every show is entertaining and usually carries a message.

A lot of other programs spun off form the characters that played in this series. And you always think that Opie Taylor (Ronny Howard) is always young. Everyone knows that they issued Deputy Barney fife "1960-1965" (Don Knotts) one bullet that has seen a lot of action in his pocket. Too many people to name here.

This series will bring back old memories or can also create some now ones.
