Product Description

Amazon.ca

Throughout their 9-year career, Nickelback has stayed true to their roots, releasing five CDs of straight-up, unapologetic rock & roll. So how have things changed for the Canadian boys since the massive success of Silver Side Up and The Long Road? Well, brothers Chad and Mike Kroeger still live in the Great White North, and they still write hook-laden rock songs. The only difference now is that they have the satisfaction, 10 million CDs later, of smugly knowing that even some of their biggest naysayers will guiltily admit to singing along with Nickelback's catchy hits. On All The Right Reasons, one track definitely ranks high up in hum-ability: the first single, "Photograph" reminisces about the bittersweetness of high school in a small town--once again reconfirming frontman Chad Kroeger's ability to write memorable hooks. Regarding the rest of the disc: standard rock topics like love, lust, jealousy, and breakups abound, with riff-y delivery that longtime fans will love. The guilty pleasure bunch will also find what they need within the grooves, on the ballad "If Everyone Cared," the riff-heavy "Fight for All the Wrong Reasons," and the Metallica-inspired "Savin' Me." The disc's most impressive and simultaneously surreal moment, however, exists on "Side of a Bullet," a passionate revenge tale written about the killer of Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, which, features one of the late Abbott's guitar solos, as donated by Pantera bandmate and brother, drummer Vinnie Paul. --Denise Sheppard

5.0 out of 5 stars How could anyone not like this music?, Aug 31 2007
By Peck Ransom (Alberta) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I heard "Photograph" on the radio a while back and decided I had to have this CD. Now, while the other cuts are nothing like the Photo-hit, they're every bit as good. That said, some of the lyrics are a bit racy and they'll got right by you if you're not listening intently. The group has had obvious influences, but the sound is their own. I've read some really bad reviews in papers and such about them, and can't imagine why they're not appreciated more than they are. If you really get into this music, really listen to it with headphones or on your i-pod, you'll hear the intricate details that have been put into the music--the many layered tracts and great engineering that's gone into the making of this music. If nothing else, buy it for the "Photograph" cut, which is one of the best songs to come out in the last ten years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nickelback's All The Right Reasons- one of the best albums from 2005., Jul 21 2006
By Vader - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This is one of the best albums from Nickelback and one of the best albums from 2005. I remember the first time that I heard the song, Photograph. I thought for sure that Nickelback would have received their second #1 single. Well, Mariah Carey's We Belong Together kept Photograph out of the top spot. Now that I think about it, Photograph deserved to be #1. Nickelback rocks with Animals and the Side of a Bullet. Far Away and Savin' Me are incredible power ballads and should have included on Power Ballads gold. All the right reasons is an album that is well done and it's beautifully written.

4.0 out of 5 stars not as good as long road...., Jun 15 2006
By dan schaap (abbotsford canada) - See all my reviews
here's the thing that eveyone has to get out of their mind. Nickelback is not here to change music!!! why anyone who ever listened to the first recording of CURB ever thought that must have been nuts. this is a new take on hard rock, and thats's it. straight ahead forward no holds barred rock. they have certainly had their fair share of naysayers and if you don't like it then stop listening and posting comments. this is one of the best ( i personaly think long road was the best ) records they have put out. the opening track is great, good mix of heavy riffing and using new drummer daniel adair's bombastic style is the reason that they hired him. this is not re-invention of the wheel. its using what every garage rock band ever hopes of becoming. a commercial success with the talent to back it. chad kroeger may be the same sounding, same sound hiring guy, but if it works why not flaunt it right? if you read this chad and gang, be proud!!! you guys hav egiving so many ( and i have to say this ) lowermainlanders the chance to be proud of a band that delivers!! time after time. every record sounds better. ( yes i know i said long road, but this one SOUNDS better ) everyone can relate to the music, whether you hate it or love it. so stop hating cause you don't know how to play it, or even if its too easy to play , cause guess what?! they thought of it first and you hav eto give credit where credit is due. i personally have to say that i abosultey love every video that they have made cause it makes the song that much more heartfelt. these guys are just giving what they got. all the right reasons is a breath of fresh air when rap and hip-hop is dilutting our youth. they aren't telling you to buy mags for your excalade or promoting you to get rich now cause their are ho's to be had. they are telling the tales of life we all live. and if anyting that is worth every $ 12 that i spend on a cd.
