4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent RPG following Daggerfall and Morrowind, Nov 7 2009
By Brian Ashe "Fantast" (Ottawa, Canada) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This is an immersive game. Be warned. Buy it and be lost to your family for hours at a time. Really an RPG, but single character, like Morrowind and Daggerfall. Not quite D&D. Also like those games, there is a storyline you don't need to follow. Do what you like. Be good or evil (evil means the cops will be after you), rampage across the country, or become a merchant of sorts, buy a house, sell potions for a living, nobody cares. The world goes on without you. And when you finish the game one way, do it another way with a different character.
There are two official expansions: Knights of the Nine, and The Shivering Isles. Each adds new elements to the original, with new quests, etc. But better yet, hundreds of mods are available for free online, adding graphic detail, new weapons, new monsters, new quests, or tweaks on difficulty. I love this game and its add-ons. This could easily replace your job.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great step up from morrowind, Feb 25 2009

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game was very much an improvement from the Morrowind(Elder Scrolls 3), however it is not without its faults.

If you are buying this for PC then i highly suggest you look up mods for this game. Some of them might be simple things like making arrows move faster or making the grass shorter. Others might be as complicated as a complete enemy overhaul so it doesn't feel like every random bandit you fight is murdering you as much as an even stronger boss type opponent.

Onto the game, it is a roleplaying fully immersive RPG set in a medival world. You get a character whom you customize to every minute detail. You then play the game how you want as much as you want. You can steal, kill, protect, explore etc.

It really is a very broad game in terms of what you can do. However it is not for people who like very active and social games. You are alone for most of the game(you can get followers) but at no time will you feel like you are part of a town or group, you really are an outcast. People will "like" you but the game doesn't have the depth to be able to change it so people will actively follow or talk to you when you become a savior of a whole town.

It is a great game but for those looking for fast paced action and a world the makes you feel connected might look towards Fable or a first person shooter.
