This DVD set of Gimme A Break!'s sophomore season contains all 22 episodes, a preview episode from the series' third season that introduces us to a pint-sized Joey Lawrence, as well as a bonus episode from the forthcoming Third Season DVD release of another feel good sitcom from the 80's - Kate & Allie.

If you're a fan of "Gimme a Break!", you will love this dvd set. The second season is full of funny episodes. VEI did an incredible job of putting this together. They even added a bonus episode from Season 3 introducing the character of Joey. There is also an episode from Kate & Allie which is now available in Seasons 1-4 from VEI.

I hope to see Season 3 released in the near future.

I haven't seen this show since I was 14 and seeing it now is like seeing it again for the first time. However, the show is even funnier than I remember. The crazy cop, Simpson and Grandpa and Swackhammer are some of my favourite guest characters on the episodes. It is almost addicting to watch and I find myself even singing the theme song. I was saddened to hear of Nell Carter's passing in 2003. She was such a talented lady. I'm sure if any tv stations started to air reruns of Gimme A Break -- the show would experience a resurgence in popularity.

Let's all take a minute to give our thanks to VEI for releasing such a great show. Who knows when and if Universal will continue their sets in the US. I was fortunate enough to get this set shipped out to me back in October before VEI pushed up the release date at the last minute. I don't know if any changes will have been made by the time they release it next week.

First and foremost if you're like me and live in the US, this Canadian set is still region 1 and plays fine. Take my advice and order this set instead of waiting around who knows how long for a US release.

This set contains all the episodes from season 2 along with a bonus episode "Joey" from season 3 and a bonus episode from season 3 of VEI's other release Kate & Allie. All episodes on this set are the original network versions, NOT syndicated prints. ALL original music is included (can we say that about most of Universal's sets?). The overall quality of the episodes is good, although in some the audio is a bit low, and the picture a litle jumpy. However, the show is over 20 years old and one can not expect the quality of a show produced last year. This is only a few episodes and most of them look great.

The season 3 episode "Joey" does contain the season 3 theme song. It was cool hearing both theme songs on the same set.

Let's hope VEI continues their terrific job they've done so far with Gimme a Break! Let's hope there's a short wait for season 3. If you're a fan of this show get this set fast. It's extremely affordable and well worth the money. It's not on in syndication is most areas so the DVD's seem to be the only way to see this show for many people. Thanks VEI!
