I was pleasantly suprised to see this series garner a release, as I wasn't sure if Hanna Barbera viewed it as being important enough. I already have the entire series, as it was shown on Cartoon Network in recent years. My motivation for buying was that this was an " official " release, and the hope of solid remastering and some cool extras.

After viewing the set, the video quality appears no better than the copies I already have. The only extra is a very interesting featurette about Alex Toth with interviews and comments from various people he worked with, those who were influenced by him and his family members. It focuses more on Toth than the series, and could stand alone as something from Biography on A&E.

I really would have enjoyed seeing interviews with Gary Owens & Tim Matheson, both of whom are still alive. With both having provided the voices of Space Ghost and Jayce, respectively, their input and anecdotes about the series would have been very interesting.

Ultimately, the release is all about the cartoons. The entire series, along with Dino Boy, is presented in all its' glory. From the paper thin plots, campy dialogue to the over the top villians & near death escapes; all of it brings back fond memories of childhood sitting in front of my grandmother's old colour televison.

And at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?

I purchased "Space Ghost & Dino Boy" strictly for nostalgia and to revisit this great animated show from my youth. This is another Hanna Barbera series that will leave fans disappointed with the level of quality from Warner Studios. Everything about this DVD release confirms it was a rush job by Warner Studios.

The packaging is absolutely cheap and the quality of the discs is terrible. The set consist's of a cheap cardboard outer package and two double sided discs that sit on top of one another, making them hard to take out. Rest assured because of this poor method of packaging the discs will get scrathed at some point if they're not already.

I pre-ordered this set from Amazon.ca and when I received it the discs were already full of fingerprints and scratches upon opening the package. Once again Amazon.ca quickly issued a replacement set without hesitation. Unfortunately when the second set arrived it was covered with deep scratches, more fingerprints and some kind of residue on the discs. This lead me to believe that it's a quality control problem at Warner Studios, it seems that's not the case.

I've learned from another source that Warner doesn't handle their own DVD replicating process, they just put their name on the final product. I contacted Warner to complain about the poor condition I received my two sets in and guess what they did, absolutely nothing. While I'm glad I bought this set it seems that no restoration went into this DVD release and I have seen better quality in other Hanna Barbera titles.

Once again I am completely satisfied at the level of customer service from Amazon.ca even though I wasn't happy about the condition of the two DVD sets I received under the Warner label. In the end it's Warner's name on the package and it's them I hold accountable for the subpar quality of this release.

I'm still a big Fan of this show and I rate it a solid four stars for entertainment value, I really enjoyed the special feature: The Life and Art of Alex Toth but wonder why a commentary from Tim Matheson wasn't created for the fans. I for one would love to hear his thought's on the series. Even better would be Gary Owens standing behind the microphone shouting Space Ghost to introduce this set.
