I have all the released seasons of scifi's Ghost Hunters and often turn to the other shows that explore and investigate haunts. Most Haunted is the other show that is long running and has a considerable set of seasons to watch. They do go to many great sites, many great British historical sites. And they take a pyschic with them during the investigation which is very different than the Ghost Hunters.
When it happens that a pyschic can come up with names, dates, and/or events that can be matched to historical records... that's very provocative. Cool even.
The weakness is the investigations. More the actual result than the techniques. In watching the old episodes found on this dvd collection and in the newest series there is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much friggin' yelling and screaming. An investigator will ask the spirit to make something happen, make a noise, give them some sign of it's presence. When something actually occurs, there is screaming! From both female and male searchers. Anything that may have been audible is often obliterated by the screaming and paniced movement. There is often a repeat of the incident, as if to highlite what supernatural event may have just happened, but you can't always pull it out from the screaming and yelling. It makes me long for the general professionalism demonstrated by the Ghost Hunters. And frustrated at what might just have been missed.
It is cool. The haunts and historical sites they investigate, and the use of the pyshic, the historical research that's been done to both test the pyshic and to uncover the origin of the haunts. It's a little frustrating though when something apparently happens but it's drowned out by panicing ghost hunters. I take two stars away just because of that.

I am a huge fan of Most Haunted and have been waiting forever to get my hands on a DVD set here in Canada. The collection lived up to all of my expectations, and I am looking forward to more seasons being released here. However, buyers take note - the box says the collection contains Season 1 and 2, however, it is actually Season 2 and 3.
