Synopsis

In this animated film based on the popular series of fantasy books, six friends - a dwarf, a warrior, a half-elf, a mage, a knight and a kinder - have come together once again after spending five years searching for proof that the gods do in fact exist. Sadly, they reunite amidst rumors of a growing evil and an impending war - but now, with horror and chaos looming on the horizon, the goal of their searches may finally be within their grasp in the form of mysterious warrior princess bearing a crystal blue staff. A threat like none of them have seen is poised to overtake their homeland, but if these heroes can stand against it, they will become legends. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking, Jan 21 2008
I've been looking forward to this movie since I heard that DoAT was being made into a movie. If you are a fan of Dragonlance do not buy this movie. Remember the story as the book tells it. The movie butchered to many aspect of the book that made it a great story. They failed in capturing the soul of the characters. I was particularily disappointed with Tasselhoff and Raistlin's characters. The animation was lacking and the voice acting was worse. I wish I didn't buy the movie because it just ruined the story. I'm specifically not showing my children the movie because I don't want their desire to read Dragonlance novels based on the inferior storyline they present in the movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars DragonLance - Dragons of Autumn Twilight - under performed, Jan 15 2008

The eagerly awaited DVD arived this am. Tonight I sent kids to bed, set myself up with coffee and popcorn infront of large screen TV with upconverting DVD system. Spent the next hour and a half trying to rustle enthusiasm into the distracting and lackluster (visually and performed) movie. The flat 2D and 3D rendered CGI blend caused me distraction to no end. unable to break free of the technology I found myself more enthralled with the weekly free fliers rather than on the movie - its a shame as the written work captivated my mind and attention span more. Its $15 what do you expect - the books set the pace and standard that the movie doesn't deliver, it tries but falls short IMO. Some will enjoy it for sure, try it and see for yourself.

Terrible animation. Terrible acting. Terrible direction. It does not live up in any way to the books. Don't even rent this, let alone purchase it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for children
I knew from the previews that the movie was a weird blend of CGI (all dragons and draconians) and 80s-like cartoons (everything else), but I was hoping that the quality of the... Read more
