5.0 out of 5 stars This completes the 1st season, Dec 24 2007
By J. Gilbert - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
In my review for "Season 1, Volume 1, I said that I couldn't really review a product before it was released, so I limited my comments to my knowledge of the show, from having seen every episode a number of times over the years. Now, having watched the DVDs from "Season 1, Volume 1," I can say that the quality is spectacular and the picture crystal clear, the episodes having been remastered from the original negatives.

Volume 2 completes the 1st season of this outstanding series. It includes some key episodes, such as "Search in a Windy City," Kimble's first encounter with the one-armed man since the night of Helen Kimble's murder. Also included in "Season 1, Volume 2" is the the finely executed and inspirational two-part episode "Angels Travel On Lonely Roads." "Taps For a Dead War" gives us a glimpse of Kimble's past as a medic in Korea, and in "Storm Center," we learn about a past ethical dilemma he had to deal with as a doctor. "The End Game" makes for a fitting close to the season, and incorporates a little more comic relief than is typical of the characteristic heavy drama of the series. There are several fine episodes in this collection of 15.

To me, one would either buy the whole series or none of it. But if you need any reassurance, those who enjoyed the superb first 15 episodes will not feel let down by the balance of the season.

The only let down is that February 2008 will mark six months since the release of "Season 1, Volume 1." Six month intervals between 1/2-season sets means a release rate of one season per year, i.e. four years to get all four seasons released!! Paramount, if there's anything you can do to speed this process up, short of compromising the quality of the sets, please do!!

4.0 out of 5 stars All is Great... Except........, Sep 1 2008
By A. Bain (Nova Scotia) - See all my reviews

The quality is very good. Even better than one might hope for.
I am puzzled by one thing. Why couldn't CBS put an entire season per pack rather than splitting the into 2 volumes? (I'm afraid I know the answer and it has more to do with $ than technicalities.
I am bugged by another thing. Why no extras, like production notes, cast lists, trivia, and the like?
I am annoyed by a third thing. Where in blazes, is the balance of the series?
These guys are slower than a Paper-hanger with ... ahh well... You Know.
