The thirteenth installment in the evergreen Charlie Brown animated series, this is a delightful romp through the rites of spring. The running gag that holds this string of episodic misadventures together is Peppermint Patty's futile attempts at explaining how to make Easter eggs to Marcy. Highlights of this rather surreal Peanuts outing include Snoopy's dancing with little bunny rabbits inside a kaleidoscope, Sally heading to the mall to purchase a pair of platform shoes (this video was made in 1974), and Woodstock's lavishly equipped bachelor-pad birdhouse. As with the best of the Peanuts cartoons, this will entertain children and adults alike, and is one of the last of the series to feature a music score by Vince Guaraldi. --Kristian St. Clair

I absolutely love this movie! I've watched it everyday I go to my Grandma's house since I was 2! I'm 12 now, but I still love it, it is funny, cute, and it just has that Snoopy sprig about it that makes you enjoy it!

As much as I love Peanuts, I have to say, the ï¿Easter Beagleï¿ cartoon wasnï¿t one of the strongest ones. While Peppermint Patty is frustrated with trying to teach the conventions of the holiday to Marcie, Linus insists that the Easter Beagle will save the day. The story feels like a hodgepodge of elements form other ï¿Peanutsï¿ cartoons -- Linusï¿s confusion about holiday icons smacks of ï¿Itï¿s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brownï¿ (the twist being that this time, heï¿s right), while Patty and Marcieï¿s kitchen mishaps remind me of the fiasco in ï¿A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.ï¿

Itï¿s still ï¿Peanuts,ï¿ so itï¿s still warm and funny, but itï¿s not one of the best.

Oddly enough the back-up cartoon on this DVD IS one of the best. ï¿Itï¿s Arbor Day, Charlie Brownï¿ starts out with a explanation of one of the most superfluous holidays imaginable and turns into a hysterical, well-written and wonderfully entertaining story about Charlie Brownï¿s frequent baseball tribulations. His own team seems out to sabotage him this time, turning his baseball diamond into a garden, right down to the tree in the middle of his pitcherï¿s mound. Itï¿s almost as good as ï¿Peanutsï¿ gets.

Although not as good as the later Peanuts specials and movies (The timing in these earlier Peanuts shows is almost non-existant ... one of many examples: Marcie screws up; Peppermint Patty stares at her for five seconds before screaming), IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN is still a true animated classic. The scenes between Marcie & Peppermint Patty are priceless, and the whole thing with Woodstock's birdhouse is hilarious!

Programs like these are constant reminders of why we love cartoons in the first place, in that they help us to escape the real world. While a number of strips have accomplished just that, in the category of Sunday comics that have appeared on television, Peanuts is the reigning champion.
