Both my husband and I enjoyed ER enormously, that is until the end of Season 8. Dr. Greene's death marked the end of ER as a series with style, integrity, and sensitivity. And while many faces remain the same in Season 9 (Drs Carter, Weaver, Corday, Kovac, and Abby), they have undergone such radical character surgery, that in their actions they are nearly unrecognizable. (Only Sally Field as Abby's bi-polar mother remains faithful to her earlier character and is thoroughly enjoyable.) Patient care now takes a backseat to the erratic and often chaotic personal lives of the ER staff. The Emergency Room seems more like a war zone, lacking the tenderness and true humanity of earlier seasons. Dr. Carter's deep connection to his patients goes missing; Kovac, who has waited to have sex until his wedding night, becomes indiscriminately involved with women, including prostitutes; Susan Lewis gets married, on impulse, to a total (unattractive) stranger; and Ramano, well, he retains his usual, obnoxious attitude, except now he is looking to fire somebody, anybody, he has the power to fire, even if it is an orderly whom he has never even met. The lack of depth in story lines is, however, made up for with plenty of volume and blood. The attempt at humor is, at best, crude, and some scenes are outright ridiculous and in poor taste. My husband and I sat through more than two thirds, hoping for improvement, before giving up. Season 9 is a waste of money and time.

DR Carter is finally here. A good start for Noah Wylie in season 9 but he got borng after this seasn was done.
