Review

A thoroughly enjoyable family comedy, this holiday film represents the high water mark of director Brian Levant's career, one marked by a specialization in light, intentionally fatuous comic fare. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays, as usual, a thinly veiled variation on himself, the "funny" version recognizable from Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Junior (1994). The rest of the cast plays against the star's mountainous gravity, however, with delightful results; in particular, Phil Hartman has oodles of fun as an oily neighborhood lecher, mocking and lampooning his leading man's stoic demeanor and sheer physical size. As the film's mailman foil, stand-up comic Sinbad is not utilized very well by the script, which never seems quite sure if he's a villain or not. Performances and clear character motivations are beside the point, however, as the script does its job, delivering the gift of many memorably amusing moments. Among them: scenes in which the star is attacked by a rogue band of elves, another in which he's attacked by angry mothers at a mall, and yet another in which he shudders to imagine his son growing up to be a boozing postal worker. There's also some fun with a rented reindeer and Schwarzenegger in a superhero costume, which is probably where he belongs. It's certainly not witty enough for the stage, but Jingle All the Way is a fun seasonal treat that will probably be popping up on cable TV as a December programming staple, one in which weary parental shoppers will grimace and guffaw to recognize themselves. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

4.0 out of 5 stars great fun, Feb 21 2008

This review is from: Jingle All the Way (DVD)
not only is this movie funny, but it's action packed, and family
friendly.this is one fast paced movie,that doesn't let up.it's a true
comedy of errors.the acting is also great in this one Schwarzenegger is
in great comedic form here,as is Sinbad.i don't usually find Sinbad
funny, but he was in this movie.and Arnie has shown his comedic side in
a few movies, but i never expected him to be this funny in a comedy that
fires on all cylinders.the only negative thing i would say about this
movie is that it strays a bit into sappy territory briefly.there are a
few suggestive scenes, but these would be above the heads of most
kids,so like i said,this is a family friendly movie.there are some very
funny moments throughout, and the movie is always entertaining.for
me,Jingle All the way is a 4/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Christmas Kaos, Feb 21 2005

This review is from: Jingle All The Way (DVD)
This movie is a movie that is 100% truthful to how parents shop for their kids. This story is about a work-o-holic dad who is absent minded and always forgets famili events, (e.g. his sons karote ceremony.) One night his wife asks him if he picked up a Turbo man doll for his son. He says nothing becuase he forgot. The next day (which is Christmas Eve) he goes out to try and find this doll for his son. there is only one problem, this is the Christmas hot seller. This leads him on a chase with a whole bunch of laughs along the way. I would recommend this Christmas Comedy Classic to kids because it totally reflects today's parents

We didn't have much expectations with Arnold as the lead. We were pleasantly surprised by the fast pace. Funny and spreads holiday cheer. Good movies for kids. I like the ending.
