Product Description

Description

Combining dry wit, fine acting and quaint English locales, these cleverly conceived mysteries keep fans guessing - and coming back for more. John Nettles returns as the steady, unfailingly decent DCI Tom Barnaby, with Jason Hughes as his young protege. Maintaining the show's tradition of casting classically trianed performers alongside rising stars, this set also features Olivier Award-nominee Clare Holman, Royal Shakespeare Company veteran Siobhan Redmond, and BAFTA-winning actress Juliet Aubrey.

On the DVD

50th episode production notes
Text interviews with John Nettles and Jason Hughes

4.0 out of 5 stars Carrying on in a Great Tradition, April 11 2009
By John Sobkowicz (Calgary, Alberta) - See all my reviews

If you are a fan of mysteries, and MidSomer Murders in particular, you won't be disappointed by the latest set (#12) of four stories. Tom Barnaby is in his usual good form and his latest companion (Ben Jones) I think is the best of a good batch. We find Jones has a few hidden talents, and of course Barnaby loves to give him a hard time when his naivity is showing. Joyce Barnaby seems to get tied up somehow in most of the stories, but that's OK - she is another strong character. We really watch these episodes because of the people and their relationships, don't we? (does that sound soap-operaish?) Well, maybe, but the "who dunnit" storylines are all good as well. So - good, solid, clean entertainment - just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing Friday night. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Evil lurks in Midsomer, Aug 9 2009
The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in Four New Mysteries; Four Funerals and a Wedding, Country Matters, Death in Chorus and Last Year's Model. Special Features include 50th Episode Production Notes, Text Interviews with John Nettles and Jason Hughes, Caroline Graham Biography and Cast Filmographies.
A delight for all Midsomer Murders fans!! Beautiful backgrounds, surprise twists and turns, keep you guessing through very original plot lines and great characters. Highly enjoyable mystery entertainment. John Nettles continues his great performance as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby and John Hughes his trusty, earnest and efficient protege is soon promoted to Sergeant. Last Year's Model is the most original of all the Mysteries to date, as Barnaby seeks to save a woman he arrested and convicted! New information comes to light and he seeks justice!
