4.0 out of 5 stars
20 shots, 2 or 3 holes, Nov 9 2009
They were so close to hitting the mark but Ed still has them beat with his 20 shots, 1 hole record.
For the price, there is not nearly enough bonus material on the DVDs. Some of the episodes (Scorpio comes to mind) have sub-par visual quality in some sections, and there is no close captioning.
Despite those flaws, it is the same Flashpoint I love and remember so well from its original run, and, thankfully, is back to the pre-CBS Season 1 with all 13 Episodes. [We can only hope that Season 2 will be released as the original CTV 18 episode order instead of the 9 episodes CBS cut it into...]
This show still has things to offer on multiple views as I didn't have an episode I watched during the first run through of the DVDs that I didn't discover some new detail that I had overlooked on TV.

3.0 out of 5 stars
Flashpoint Season 1 DVD, Oct 26 2009
Being a bit of a fan of this type of show, I figured that I give FlashPoint Season 1 a try, to come straight to the point the show is average and overly is nothing new to the world of police shows. The premise of the show is about the daily lives of an elite team of police officers who serve in the role as SWAT or in this case SRU, Situation Response Unit or something of that nature you get the idea.
The show touches perspectives of everyone involved, from the snipers (who has to take the shot) and the chief negotiator (who tries to save the person's life/lives) of the team, to the people committing whatever crime and as to the reason or events that lead up to committing the crime which lead to them finding themselves on the bad side of the law. The characters who form the team fall into the usual mix of cop dramas, the team leader and veteran who has been in the game for too long, and is haunt by the people he has had to kill on the job; the young hot shot kid who is a top gunner and is a extreme sports type of guy and the list goes on. The show tries to bring a female perspective in the series by having one of the team's character as a female sniper, played by Amy Jo Johnson (aka: power rangers hottie back in the day), thus the show tries to capture that "she hanging with the boys" feel about the character, which to me is nothing new in tpical cops shows.
I don't want to give away any of the story, but in short the action in the show is ok to slow at times, and usually the show ends with the cool, time to muse about life music as everyone form the cops in the show reflect and often on the verge of tears about the life they taken or blah..blah who died, to the criminals/victims who either bought the farm in the show or where saved by the ever caring highly trained, heavily geared elite paramilitary police team who at heart are caring, vulnerable people.
To finish the show is not that bad, nor is it that good, its cool to see various set locations within Toronto, and its nice to see a Canadian show, but in my opinion the show itself has yet to really get its grove, hopefully this is just fighter's nerves and the show will settle down and give us some great stories, but until then don't expect overly much and falls as average for now in my book.
Personally I enjoyed The Boarder and Intelligence more than FlashPoint if you are looking for Canadian programing, Intelligence is absolutely brilliant if you ever get a chance to see it, only has two Seasons DVD wise but amazing none the less.
