Q: Why should I purchase items from Shop At Clares?
A: Because we are good folks! We are not a big box store and we feel that works to your advantage. We are honest and hard-working and truly value our customers and our suppliers. We strive to offer the best products we can find at the best values we can give combined with the best personal service our customers deserve! We have been in the retail business for over 15 years and plan on being in the retail business for the next 15 years. So serving and keeping our customers is our number one priority!

Q: How do I get in touch with you if I have a question?
A: You can email us or call us, whichever is easier for you. However, with email you can contact us about your question 24/7.

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes we do ship internationally and love to work with our international customers. Of course some items cannot be shipped due to their weight and/or size. We try to identify that in each of the items we sell. If you have any questions please get in touch with us.

Q: How do I know that I will get what I ordered?
A: We stand behind what we sell and guarantee that you will receive what you ordered or we will make it right. We would never ship an incorrect or damaged item intentionally so you can be totally confident ordering from us.

Q: What if I receive an item and it is damaged?
A: We package items carefully to help ensure that they arrive safe and sound.  Of course once-in-a-while something does happen, and if it happens to you, then you can be assured that we will replace it (or refund if it cannot be replaced). However, you have to help and make sure you save all of the packaging and the item in case the shipping carrier wants to investigate then claim.  No worries you will not be stuck with an item that was damaged during shipping.

Q: How do I return an order?
A: You can review our return policy for all of the details. But basically you first contact us for a Return Authorization. Then you make sure the item is like-new and is totally complete. You pack it up carefully and send it back to us. Then we process it according to what we have both agreed to, a refund, replacement or exchange.

    About Shop At Clares

    Shop At Clares LLC was established in 1994 (by sisters whose last name just happens to be Clare) as a small retail store in the PA Dutch country of Eastern Pennsylvania. We started the business with the hopes of being able to supplement our retirement income when we retired. Well, we are now retired from our real world jobs (of CPA and Teacher) and the notion of retirement income and of being retired is nothing but a distant fantasy. How wonderful though that we absolutely love the E-commerce world and our popular, small-town retail business.

    Although we are still family-owned, we also have a super team of folks who take pride in the products we offer and the customer service we provide. We are not a big box company, but we are a big-hearted company working closely with all of our customers and suppliers. We also love offering items from local manufacturers and suppliers, so you will find some great deals on our site! Our wide variety of quality products makes shopping on our site lots of fun.     Shop At Clares Shipping Rates

    Our team works very hard to deliver your order to you as quickly and efficiently as possible. If we could get it to you yesterday and not charge you a dime, believe us, we would do so. Our shipping and handling charges are based on the weight of an item and we state a fixed rate for each item in each ad. We offer a wide range of product lines varying in weight from 2 ounces to 50 pounds and have found this to be the most accurate way of listing our shipping charges. We do not use the tables generated by Amazon, that are listed under the fixed rate display, for regular shipping so please ignore those tables

    Please consider the combined price plus shipping for an item to determine its true cost. (And remember we are charging by weight. So a $1 item that weighs 100 lbs, may cost $25.00 to ship). The combined shipping cost may get a bit bizarre if you are purchasing many items. Also, sometimes the charge looks wrong, but you will find that the item ships -oversized- and is subject to additional handling charges by the shipping carriers. This is true for large and heavy items, and large items that are lightweight. If you order several items then the combined shipping rate might calculate to some unreasonably expensive amount, -- as if each item was shipping as a separate order. If this is the case, do not get discouraged. Simply contact us and we will prepare a custom quote. If the items you have ordered  can be packaged together and can be shipped from the same location we may be able to reduce the calculated shipping amount.

    Shop At Clares Shipping Policies

    We value your patronage and know you are anxious to get the items you ordered and therefore we will do everything humanly possible to process and ship your order as quickly as possible. We are in the USA but have been servicing Canadian customers for many years. As you know, sometimes there are special challenges in getting your order to you and sometimes the process requires a bit more patience then if we were shipping domestically within the USA. But we pride ourselves in working extra hard to get what you ordered to arrive safely at your doorstep in a reasonable amount of time.

    In order to save you as much as possible on the shipping costs, we will use the Postal system to ship any order that is within the allowed dimensions and that is 1.8Kg or less. Note that you may be responsible for duty and taxes, as there is no way for us to prepay this when using the Postal system. The huge reduction in the cost of shipping should compensate for any potential customs fees.

    For any order that is over 1.8Kg, we prefer using UPS as our shipping carrier. Your order will be traceable, will arrive at your doorstep in a reasonable amount of time with no need to pay any extra - all duty, taxes and fees will be prepaid. Be very sure to include a physical address if you are ordering anything that may potentially ship UPS. Also note that UPS does not deliver to all places in Canada, notably with exceptions in The Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We will do our very best to ship your order via Priority Mail, but there is a possibility that the charged shipping will not cover the shipping costs. In this case we will contact you to see what we can mutually work out.

    Note that we charge a fixed shipping rate per item and in 90% of the orders this rate will work out fairly. BUT, if you order several items then the combined shipping rate might calculate to some unreasonably expensive amount, -- as if each item was shipping as a separate order. If this is the case, do not get discouraged. Simply contact us and we will prepare a custom quote.     We offer a wide array of items. Some are specialty items that are either custom-made or are simply ordered just for you. We list a longer time in these product ads so that you know we are not going to be shipping the item right away. You will receive an email that will give you the estimated ship date of your order.  Please contact us (800.963.8112) if you are concerned about the length of time to receive your order and would like to inquire what additional shipping charges would be incurred for faster methods.     Gift Messages

    We offer both free gift messages and low-cost gift-wrapping. Simply indicate your gift-wrap request and/or gift message when you check out. We will lovingly wrap your package and/or include a gift slip. (Of course no pricing information). If you want something really special, please call us (800.963.8112) and tell us what you need (additional charges may apply).

    Gift Wrapping

    During the checkout process, you may have the option to choose to have your item gift wrapped. What a nice way to add a special touch to your on-line purchase! Shop At Clares will wrap each item with the color of wrapping you select (sometimes we cannot accommodate you color request) and top it off with a bow and gift slip.  Of course no pricing information will be included with the package.

    We also offer specialized gift -wrapping services if you have that extra special gift. You simply need to contact us so that we can work out the details (additional charges may apply).

    Although we would love to offer gift-wrapping on all items, please note that some items are ineligible for gift-wrap.
