The smear continues, July 19 2004
I guess the Dems can't manage to be a "mensch" and admit they lost the election. Votes were counted and recounted. Still Gore did not win. So Gore in effect took it to the Supreme Court with his refusal to graciously concede. But then Gore is not a gracious man. Does anyone realize that CNN was poised to air a speech of his around July 1; they were actually showing the open podium waiting to begin and had been promoting the speech all morning. The speech never aired, and CNN offered no explanation. We can only surmise Gore began frothing at the mouth... What about Gore's attempts to BLOCK votes of military personnel? Personnally, I would rather be elected by soldier et al than rapists, druggies, and other felons. Are the Dems at the point where they need this illustrious group to vote in a President? Scary.

While you're bitching about white men, July 12 2004
let's remember who invented the electricity and sewer lines and medicine that everyone is so upset because they have been temporarily interrupted in Iraq. Surely the wonderful culture of Arabic lands can only be improved by the loss of these heathen inventions. I challenge you to name three exports of an Arab country other than oil and terror. (Actually, this is Thomas Sowell's challenge. Now there is a thinker!)

Where is Micheal Moore?, July 12 2004
When a young conservative film-maker wanted to interview Mr. Moore regarding Fahrenheit 911 for his new film, Mr. Moore was unavailable. So I guess he isn't much different from Roger, now is he? Micheal Moore laughs all the way to the Bank. And all he has done for the documentary is nothing. Because his films are propaganda, not documentaries. Documentaries present balanced views on issues or historical events. And by the way, you might ask yourself, where is the HIGH PROFILE look by Newsweek or Time or Dateline or 60 minutes regarding the facts in Fahrenheit 911? There isn't one. There are only interviews with Mr. Moore further expousing his viewpoints. Since there would certainly be plenty of interest in such a show or article, we are left to draw our own conclusions: A) too much real work would be involved in chasing down the facts as opposed to asking Mr. Moore questions and nodding while he talks B) the real facts don't support the media's outlet's agenda of electing John Kerry.

Good people of America!, Jun 24 2004
Ill-supervised, lonely, bullied children are responsible for the murders at Columbine, not guns. Better to ask yourself WHY children in America are committing these heinous acts than do a knee-jerk 'blame the NRA' thing. How about the sea of pornography, much of which exploits children, running through our land? How about the greed for money and power exhibited by women in our country, resulting in kids coming home to empty BIG houses and eating dinner by themselves? How about the lack of respect for human life we teach our children when we say a woman has a right to choose a late term abortion, even if that means we karate-chop a 4 lb baby's head before it's even out of her womb? How about the way we teach our children that God can't be trusted by teaching them it's wrong to say His name in school? Remember this: Hitler, Saddam, and Stalin were all avid gun-control proponents. First they disarmed their perceived enemies, legally, of course, then they killed them. If you think it can't happen here, today, look at some of the rhetoric around you.

Expected to hate it -- loved it!, Jun 1 2004
A lot of reviewers wax philosophical as they describe their reasons for disliking the movie -- not historically accurate, an offense to the Japanese, an offense to Western culture. I'm pretty well read with friends of all ethnic origins, and I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. It's a simple story about a man's struggle to belong and regain his honor through helping others. Tom Cruise did his usual good-quality job, and the rest of the cast was outstanding. The real star of the movie is the allure of a simple life.

Lies and more lies!, May 18 2004
Our founding Fathers clearly intended this nation to be a Christian nation -- they did not intend to force people to attend church, but neither did they envision the day their words would be twisted and perverted to force God out of public life. A day of judgement is coming on America unless we turn our hearts back to God. With God's great love, it's not too late!

We are Scooby Doo book fiends, and this was not a winner!, Mar 11 2004
To my 7 year old and I, the device of "seeing the ghosts" detracted from the storyline immensely. The storyline was very poor in comparison to the rest of Mr. McLeon's books. Also, we could feel the invisible ghosts on the pages, but couldn't see them.

Great film!, Jan 30 2004
My husband and I both enjoyed this film very much. Wonderful acting and gorgeous imagery. It does leave many unanswered questions even for the careful viewer. Does this make it a bad film? We didn't think so. Perhaps Nick Nolte sums it up best at the end of the film: as a child of God, we don't have to understand death. It is only necessary to view it with compassion. Thank you, Polish Brothers, for your vision and your gift!

A note on God's Grace, Jan 22 2004
God only forgives those who REPENT: Repentance requires sorrow for the sins committed and the resolution to at least try to not commit the same sins again. The mere mouthing of the words "God forgive me" don't work as a magic talisman to purchase entry into heaven. For God knows a man's heart...
