3.0 out of 5 stars liked some parts, April 20 2011
This review is from: Zelda (Paperback)
the parts i didn't like were those that dealt with her books-if i wanted to read her books i would have ordered those-the author goes on and on about what Zelda wrote-which made no sense as Zelda was not making sense when she wrote them-the author quotes too much

1.0 out of 5 stars boring, April 20 2011
i could not finish this book
i wish there was a book about FSF that read more like fiction instead of a manual

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SADNESS, March 20 2011
although FSF goes off on a tangent every once in a while, it is hard to leave his books and read something less intense
FSF is not a happy read or is he a happy person but i love his stories-he is intense and i love the era as well

This review is from: The Great Gatsby (Paperback)
i can't believe i have never read this story before-i read it because of another book called "the Paris Wife"
all i can say is i'm hooked on F.SF and Hemingway now-not only on their books but on their lives as well
this book is amazing

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT, March 17 2011
This review is from: The Paris Wife (Hardcover)
i loved this story of E Hemingway and his first wife-it has the feel of Paris in the '20s-and because of this book i actually read "the Great Gatzby" by F.SF because he was in that scene-i have now begun to delve into that era and will be reading more of Hemingway and F.SF and i will also be reading about the authors thenselves and Zelda Fitzgerald-who knew that one simple book would throw me into that amazing era called the roaring "20s

5.0 out of 5 stars CRAZY GOOD, March 13 2011
i love this author-i loved the Golden Spruce and i love this book-the author has a way of writing that puts you in the action and you feel the cold and the sorrow and he makes you love the characters and hate some of them too-i will read anything he writes in the future

2.0 out of 5 stars boring two dimentional characters, March 8 2011
with a title like Child of the Northern Spring one would think that it would be magical-think again-this book is more war driven but not in an interesting way-the characters are lifeless and the author does not capture the mood of that time-i will not be reading the next 2 books-there are a few parts that start off interesting but fizzle out quickly-i don't like this authors writing style-too much talking goes on and not much action

Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Tess of the D'Urbervilles
by Thomas Hardy
Edition: Paperback
Price: CDN$ 4.75
55 used & new from CDN$ 0.01

2.0 out of 5 stars tiring at times, Feb. 19 2011
at times i felt like i was reading an agricultural journal-more info about cows than i care to know
Tess is enough to want to make you scream-enough of the self pity already!!!
the story is ok but the thousands of descriptive words are tedious and the walking that everyone is constantly doing will send you over the edge--if this is Thomas Hardy i don't care for more

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, Nov. 29 2010
This review is from: The Book Thief (Paperback)
great story
the book also shows that in spite of all the evil of Nazi Germany there is beauty and goodness
keep a box of tissues handy---you're going to need them

2.0 out of 5 stars kind of dull, Nov. 24 2010
i don't know why everyone finds the letters so beautiful-maybe because she was a nun-i could have written nicer letters when not in love-the book could have been full of passion and ambience-instead it seemed to lack something-i'm from Portugal and the area is beautiful but that did not come through-not like the stories of Sharon Kay Penman
