Not Impressed What So Ever., Feb. 15 2012
The quality of the headset is what I expected it to be. Great for gaming and movies despite the simulated surround sound.
What I was not impressed with are the following:
1) In order to unlock the simulated 5.1 surround sound, drivers need to be installed which are NOT included with the product. Drivers need to be downloaded from the sound-blaster website where bandwidth is severely limited. On a 3 MB/sec connection, I could only pull out 10-14 kilobytes per second. Yea.. it's that terrible. I had to use alternate drivers because it would take nearly 2 hours to download a 74 MB driver package file.
Note: Do not download the drivers mentioned within the instructions!
Use the "PAX Tactic3D Alpha V.00" drivers. Simply do a quick search and you'll find it.
2) The ability for the microphone to be easily detachable is great, however the foam piece attachment will easily fall off. I wasn't impressed with this given the price tag on the product.
3)The ear padding is ok. After a few hours your ears will become sore.
I really was hoping for something more durable given the $50 price tag.
