BEAUTIFUL BOOK...simply BREATHTAKING!!!, Nov 12 2011
Gosh...where do I start?!? Well, first off...YOU NEED to buy this fabulous creation. That is all. THE END! Just kidding. Okay, okay...I will elaborate, but really the beauty of just browsing through this wonderful cookbook, with it's breathtaking food photos will grab you attention immediately. Right off the hop, you are guaranteed to fall in love. I promise. When I received this cookbook in the mail...I was ecstatic. I knew immediately what the package was when I saw it waiting on my door map, and couldn't rip it open fast enough to have a looksy. However, when I did...I was in awe...completely BLOWN-AWAY! A total of 448 pages filled with QUALITY recipes.
The layout of 'Make It Paleo' is super appealing, stimulating and really well though out. The photos...oh the photos...really a work of art. As someone who fully appreciates this attention to detail, the way that Hayley and Bill have presented the meals in this book are superb. When I initially cozied up with this book on the couch, sticky notes in hand...I began flipping through the pages. As I did, I found ourselves saying..."I want to make this one....oh wait this one too...on so on..." EVERYTHING honestly looked soooooo scrumptious. You should see the cookbook now...they may just be a sticky tab of almost every darn page!
We have been fortunate enough to have had the chance to actually make several of the recipes out of the book now...and ALL of them have turned out WICKED!!! My dad (who has recently started a Paleo lifestyle), has also made various recipes...and has given them two big thumbs up on all accounts. So far, our favourites over here have been the BBQ pulled pork, smoked paprika chicken thighs and their 'Infamous' bacon cookies. YUM!! I know that our list of favs will only continue to grow and expand as we make more of these unbelievable meal ideas.
Each recipe that you will find in this book is categorized nicely into appropriate sections. They have divided their book up into items for breakfast, appetizers, entrees (meat, poultry, seafood), salads, soups, dressings/sauces, side dishes and treats/cheats. I also LOVED reading Hayley and Bill's story, which they told eloquently at the start of their book. You are both an inspiration! Also, A SUPER AWESOME bonus that they have included near the end...is a section devoted to - 'Menus for Special Occasions.' What an AMAZINGLY helpful addition for many folks. They have highlighted their thoughts for birthday dins, Easter/Passover, Sunday Brunch, Thanksgiving Dinner, New Year's...and basically EVERY other holiday you could think of. CLEVER!!
I have said it before, but I will say it again...THIS BOOK IS A MASTERPIECE of BEAUTIFULNESS!!! IT ROCKS! When you buy this, get it in your hands and find a recipe that you want to attempt...you will right away feel like you will be successful in doing so. They have truly set you up for success. Each recipe is paired with a stunning photo of the finished product on the right side. I find that REALLY important, because it gives you an idea of what it should look like in the end. I am so visual. On the left hand side, they have included mouth-watering words, describing the dish. Below this, is the ingredients list and process laid out is a clear and concise manner. I really appreciate that the recipes don't call for a million and one ingredients and that the instructions are SUPER EASY to follow. Fully doable for first time chefs and pros alike.
Lastly, I want to point out two final things that make this cook book really user friendly - that is their post recipe notes and the recipe difficulty levels. Under each recipe, Hayley and Bill have taken the time to include extra thoughts regarding any special cooking considerations or substitutions needed. In addition, the difficulty level visual, uses a little image of a 'whisk' to illustrate the degree of difficulty from 1-3 (Quick/Easy to more Time Consuming/Tricky). Okay...I know I already said finally, but really one last thing (I promise). At the beginning of the book, they offer a 2-page layout of pics of 'tools that make primal cooking a bit more civilized'. I think this is essential, as these 'wee gadgets' really do make life in the kitchen a lot easier and (FUN) and who doesn't love going into a kitchen supply shop and buying new things! I know I do!!! (Although, I have a slight obsession in this area -haha!)
Bill and Hayley...I want to end with a massive THANK YOU!!! Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Thank you for showcasing your unreal talents. I have sincere admiration for the work you do. Your genuine spirit for wanted to help others become more healthy is evident. Your passion for life and living it well...will take you far. I am sure of that. Love ~ Cindy & Dusty (PALEOdISH) [...]
