I went to a French Immersion school as a kid and quickly fell in love with these songs after discovering the CD on Amazon. They are beautiful, silly and sophisticated in a way that's truly French (France French, not Quebec French). They conjure up a classic fairy tale world. The French versions of 'Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf' and 'Old MacDonald had a Farm' also make an appearance. Lucienne Vernay's voice is lovely- she recorded in the 1940's, and the Quatre Barbus are great fun. Buy this CD as soon as possible!! Some reviewers wrote that they wish the lyrics were included- you can find them easily on lyricszoo, or just by googling 'Lucienne Vernay lyrics'. I would recommend this CD to parents who want their kids to develop an ear for the French language and for parents who want to be transported to olden-days France.
