5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome performance!!!, June 10 2004
This DVD is a must-have to fans all over the world. After years on the shadows, Cyndi shines on her own show, showing how talented she is. This shows features classical american songs, taken from "At last" album, as well as Cyndi's 80's hits, in new versions. The performance of Cyndi is amazing and she really interacts with her audience between the songs, explaining what inspired her to write them or the influence they had in her life and childhood. I love her guitar version of "Walk on by" (different from "At last" album), as well as "If you go away" and "Don't let me be misunderstood", which are really touching on Cyndi's powerful vocals. I was glad to see her performing old classics that made part of my life on the 80's, such as "Change of heart", "Time after time", in an acoustic version, "True colors", amazing as always, and "Girls just wanna have fun", in a salsa special version. I missed the goonies song, which is never included in Cyndi's setlist. I don't know why, because it is incredible and people really enjoy it! Cyndi's band is outstanding. The bass player and the violin player are great and very 80's! If you like Cyndi Lauper, or at least love to see live performances on DVD, get your copy right now! Cyndi is back, finally, at last!

5.0 out of 5 stars A little piece of Corrs heaven, June 8 2004
This review is from: Borrowed Heaven (Audio CD)
The Corrs is an irish band with 10 years of worldwide success, having sold more than 20 million CDs all over the globe. The group is composed by Andrea (vocals) , Sharon (violin), Caroline (drums) and Jim Corr (guitar) and they are all siblings. The Corrs make an unique sound, mixing pop music with irish sounds and some typical instruments, like tin whistle and bodrhan.
"Borrowed Heaven" is one of the best albums of the corrs! Just one week after its international released, the album reached number #1 on Ireland and UK top charts. As usual, on this album, the corrs mix pop music with irish sounds, producing a remarkable album. "Borrowed Heaven" is less commercial than "In Blue" (2000) -- which changed the band's unique style -- and was produced by Olle Romo. This new album is similar to "Talk on corners", a huge success of the Corrs.
All the songs were written by the corrs, except from "Time enough for tears", which was written by Bono Vox and was featured on "In America" soundtrack.
"Summer sunshine" is a great single, because it is the kind of song that has the power to promote the album as a whole and conquer new fans. Even though it does not have deep lyrics, "Summer sunshine" is a soft pop song, which is already a success in european charts.
The songs of "Borrowed Heaven" talk about forbidden love, shyness, end of relationships and the death of Jean Corr, the mother of the band siblings, which was already mentioned in the song "No more cry", released on "In Blue" album. In "Borrowed heaven" the feeling of grief appears in two tracks: "Angel", which will be the album's second single, and "goodbye".
"Borrowed Heaven" also has pop songs, like "Humdrum" and "Even if", which will have lots of airplays if released on radios. "Long night" is a beautiful song about the loneliness after a break up with the one you love. It has an unforgettable violin solo, which may sound amazing when performed live! "Borrowed heaven", the title track, features Ladysmith Black Mambazo on vocals, making an incredible mix of irish and african music. "Baby be brave" is a dark song with meaningful lyrics and "Confidence for quiet" is a song about life after success. "Silver strand" is an instrumental track, very emotional, and really representative for the corrs work.
If you like pop music with quality, don't think twice and pick "Borrowed Heaven" right now. Don't forget to check the albums "VH1: The Corrs Live in Dublin" and "MTV unplugged"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get in the heat with summer sunshine!, June 7 2004
This review is from: Summer Sunshine Pt.1 (Audio CD)
This single is really great and it is Pt.1 of a 2 UK single set. It features the album version of summer sunshine, as well as Fernando Garibay remix. I really like this remix, because it is soft and well produced, very related to corrs stuff.
Summer sunshine is an uptempo track, in spite of the fact that it was meant to be a sad song, about a forbidden love, between two people who will never be free.
I really recommend you get the new corrs album "Borrowed Heaven", as well as Pt.2 of summer sunshine single.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get in the heat with summer sunshine, June 7 2004
This review is from: Summer Sunshine Pt.2 (Audio CD)
This single is really great and a must-have item to all corrs fans. The disc features the album version of Summer Sunshine, an acoustic version of the song, as well as Ford remix, a dance version, recommended for clubs. The CD also features 3 media tracks: the promotional video for summer sunshine, the behind the scenes footage and a live and acoustic performance of "Silver Strand", the instrumental track from "Borrowed Heaven" album.
This very limited edition comes with a folded poster of the corrs and really worths your money. "In the heat of summer sunshine I kiss you and nobody needs to know...."

5.0 out of 5 stars maturity comes..., May 22 2004
This review is from: So-Called Chaos (Audio CD)
The great thing about Alanis Morissette is that each song she writes is a small frame of her own life, and people can really identify with her. "So called caos" is a wonderful album, with interesting lyrics, showing Alanis in a mature phase of her life. She is not as angry as in "jagged little pill" and it seems that she has found her place in this crazy world we live in.
"Eight easy steps" is one of Alanis' best songs. It's rock with meaning. "Out is through" and "Excuses" are my favorites in this CD, and make you question about the excuses you give to yourself, which let you stucked at a particular point of your life and prevent you from total happiness. "Doth I protest to much" shows that Alanis does not feel insecure when compared to other women. "So called caos" is a song about freedom, as an opposition to our commitments in life (deadlines, bosses and papers). In "Spineless", Alanis assumes the role of a real slave to her lover and "This grudge" expresses how she feels nowadays and explains much about this whole album. "Everything", the last track, but the first single of this album, is cool, but not very strong to push "so called caos" forward. I really can't understand why Maverick chose this song as single, when they could pick "eight easy steps"!
Anyway, "So called caos" is a great album, which you must have in your personal collection. I can't wait to see Alanis performing these new songs in her upcoming tour!

3.0 out of 5 stars cool DVD single!, May 10 2004
This review is from: Sweetest Sin / With You (DVD)
This DVD is great. It comes with Jessica Simpson's videos "With you" and "Sweetest sin", besides its making offs.
"Sweetest sin" is one of the sexiest videos of all times. Jessica is awsome in the waterfalls with her husband, Nick Lachey. She looks free and happy to express her feelings and sing about sex without any guilty.
The making off is interesting, showing how the video was conceived and how cold the water was at the day of the shooting.
"With you" is a catchy pop song which has become the symbol of MTV's "Newlyweds" show. It is a kind of summary of what happened in season 1, having Jessica e Nick's home as the set. On the video, Jessica eats "chicken of the sea", making fun of herself, and lies on a floor full of dirty clothes (remember the pilot episode?).
The making off is cool, showing the interaction between the video director and Jessica, who was responsible for the video/single success.
If you are a Jessica fan, buy this DVD right now. You won't regret!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best rock release of 2004!, May 3 2004
This review is from: Dead Letters (Audio CD)
The Rasmus is a great band and the album "Dead Letters" is simply amazing. If you like Evanescence and Linkin Park you should consider this CD. The lyrics are meaningful and the Rasmus really rocks! "In the shadows" is #1 everywhere. Not only the song is great, but also the video. I also like "Guilty", "First day of my life", "Still standing" and "In my life".
This album is enhanced with "In the shadows" video, besides the bonus track "F-F-F-Falling", which is very cool.
I hope they release more albums soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best TV show ever made!, May 3 2004
"Party of five" is a TV show about the salingers, a family which struggles to deal with life dificulties, after the tragic death of their parents, in a car accident.
Charlie, Julia, Claudia, Bailey and Owen are characters who will never be forgotten by fans. They were so real and true that anyone watching "Party of five" could identify with them and learn valuable lessons of life.
Throughout its six seasons, "Party of five" showed us many memorable moments, and now Columbia is finally releasing the complete first season in a 5-DVD set!
No one should miss the "Thanksgiving" episode, praised by critics and winner of awards, in which the salingers have to confront the responsible for their parents death. This episode is touching and very well directed.
This DVD set is full of extras, such as the "Family album", a TV special with the show's making-off, as well as cast interviews. There are also some commentaries made by directors and cast to the main episodes.
I really hope this DVD set sells thousands of copies, so that Columbia can release all the 6 seasons. I'm looking forward to watch second season again to see the "wedding" episode, one of TV's masterpieces of all times.
Party of five fans out there, never let the spirit of the show die, because "everybody wants to be closer to free"! Order your DVD set now, before it is out of stock!

4.0 out of 5 stars Shakira is now an international superstar!, April 10 2004
The DVD/CD live set is great, especially for all Shakira's fans all over the globe. Shakira is now an international superstar and I'm sure she still has her feet on the ground, in spite of all the attention media has given her. It's very cool to see a singer from Latin America receiving recognition for her work, as a true pop artist.
On this concert, Shakira performs several hits of her career, and many songs from "Laundry service" album, her "crossover" CD, in english. I never saw Shakira live and I'm amazed with the DVD. "Ojos asi" is breath taking, with all that sexy bellydancing. I also enjoy her latin songs, such as "Inevitable", which is very touching, "Si te vas" and "Octavio dia". Shakira's performances in "The One" and "Underneath your clothes" are great! I think they should include in the DVD, as a bonus feature, "Suerte", which is fine and better than "Whenever, wherever".
The documentary, which lasts 60 minutes, shows Shakira's busy life. There are also great interviews, proving that she is not a silly pop star, but a young woman who is aware of her role in this world.I liked the part in which she talked about Colombia's problems, showing a little bit of her native country.
Shakira is now finishing her next CD. Let's wait...

5.0 out of 5 stars The season which made the show a TV hit!, Feb. 28 2004
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Season 2 (DVD)
Fortunately, every single fan of Dawson's Creek can now own the complete second season. This is one of the most important seasons of the show, which made it popular everywhere in the world. On second season, we are introduced to Jack and Andie McPhee, we see Dawson and Joey together, in classical moments, and we watch Jen become more mature and reveal the black sheep side of her.
I think that second season represents a relevant step to Dawson's Creek. By this time, the show starts to deal with serious issues, such as Jack's sexuality and Andie's illness. Also, Abby Morgan leaves the show, in a tragic accident. We can't forget the classic kiss of Joey and Dawson in the rain ("Crossroads" episode), as well as Dawson and Andie performance during a regretable 16th birthday ("Be careful what you wish for" episode). The second season finale ("Parental Discretion Advised" episode) is great and very touching. I really appreciate the dialogues and the fact that Joey had to took part of her father's prision, for dealing with drugs again.
I hope third season is released soon, because I can't wait to watch the whole episodes again! DC forever!
