I can't get enough of this album! It is ultra addictive. I can't bring myself to remove it from my CD player. Critics have compared her to Avril Lavigne but she's beat Avril at her own game. I have her CD also and I love it. But Let Go doesn't begin to compare to this. I hope Fefe matches or surpasses the success of Avril because she is more talented in every way. For someone who is only eighteen, she is a great songwriter - she penned every song. Half of the songs are great, the other half are good or really good. The greats ones are: Stupid Little Love Song, Bye Bye Boyfriend, Take Me Away, Everything, Rock It Till You Drop It, Unforgiven and Give It Up. My least favorite song is We Went For A Ride. It has that Tracy Chapman Fast Car vibe. Fefe Dobson's debut is a must have!

Stronger - Britney Spears: Overplayed but good. 4 stars

Gotta Tell You - Samantha Mumba: All of her songs are great and I'm so glad this one made it on the CD because it was one of the best songs of 2000. 4 1/2 stars

Bye Bye Bye - NSYNC: The song that kicked off NSYNC mania all over the world in 2000. This song will always bring to mind their wonder years, as they seem to be over these days. I'll always love this song and NSYNC! 5 stars

Around The World (La La La La La) - ATC: I only listen to this song to help me go to sleep at night. It's great in that way. 3 stars

Love Don't Cost A Thing - Jennifer Lopez: I loved this song at first but it's been so played out that it bores me now. 3 stars

Independent Women Part I - Destiny's Child: EXTREMELY overplayed. I don't really like it. 2 stars

It Wasn't Me - Shaggy: This song was, like, the Work It of 2000. It's pretty catchy but I don't like the content. I hardly ever listen to it. 2 1/2 stars

No More (Baby I'ma Do Right) - 3LW: When this song first came out, I could not understand for the life of me why it or the group was so successful. Then I bought this CD and saw them perform it live and I was hooked. 4 1/2 stars

Crazy - K-Ci & Jojo: I was so shocked that I liked this song. I have long avoided this core R&B music and the number one R&B artist I avoided was K-Ci & Jojo. But I love this song. Shocking. 5 stars

I Wish - R.Kelly: I wish he'd drop dead. I can't stand his perverted self or his perverted music. This song happens not to be but it still sucks. 0 stars

Shape Of My Heart - Backstreet Boys: One of my favorite BSB songs ever. It's beautiful. It's perfect. 5 stars

Crazy For This Girl - Evan And Jaron: This song is so addictive. 4 1/2 stars

Yellow - Coldplay: I know Coldplay is really big these days but I don't like their newer stuff. I love this song. 4 stars

Again - Lenny Kravitz: The video where you see his bare behind was more popular than the actual song. Why was everyone so excited? His butt wasn't that impressive. Geez. This song is pretty good. 3 1/2 stars

Hemorrhage (In My Hands) - Fuel: Words cannot describe how much I love this song. It was definitely my favorite song of 2001 and one of my favorites of all time. Why it wasn't a bigger hit than it was, I'll never know. Beyond 5 stars

With Arms Wide Open - Creed: This song is so beautiful. I can't describe how I feel about it. 5 stars

Drive - Incubus: Overplayed but I like it. 3 stars

Beautiful Day - U2: I know this song won about a gazillion Grammys but I can honestly say that neither of the mix stations I listen to played this song even once. In general, I think U2 is way overhyped anyways. This song is pretty good, though. 3 stars

AM Radio - Everclear: I love Everclear but I was really dismayed the first time I heard this song and 'gd' blasted out of nowhere. There was no need for them to say "Mama wanted to watch that TV all G**d*** night". That's uncalled for. But, fortunately, the Now folks edited that. The crazy station I listen to didn't even bother. 4 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!, Jan 15 2004
I've had this import single for a little over two years now and I continue to listen to it often. This song is so addictive. It's one of my favorite NSYNC songs ever. I first heard it on Open House Party back in 2000 when they released it as their second single from No Strings Attached in Europe. It's too bad that more people on this side of the pond didn't get to hear it because it's AWESOME!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Survivor, Jan 15 2004
This review is from: Survivor (Audio CD)
Every time I listen to this CD, I feel like I'm stuck in the summer of 2001. So it's not timeless. I bought this CD on the first day of release, May 1 '01. I was a big fan of DC back then. I guess I still am but I DESPISE Beyonce as a solo artist - and I use the word artist lightly. Survivor is much better than The Writing's On The Wall. That album sucked, with a few exceptions.

1) Independent Women Part 1 - Hmmm... "Only ring your celly when I'm feeling lonely/ When it's all over please get up and leave" I'll tell you "how I feel about this". Stuff like this is exactly why I always say Beyonce is laughable. It was soooo nice to hear her describe how THAT is what a independent woman is and then forward to the song about Jesus at the end of the CD. Classic. It took me forever to like this song. Even then I wasn't too excited about it. And now I'm back at square one - I don't like it. One of the most overhyped and overplayed songs of all time. C-

2) Survivor - Again, extemely overplayed. I liked it initially. B-

3) Bootylicious - I loved this song back in 2001 and I like it now, I mean it's enjoyable to listen to. The lyrics are just stupid - "My body's too bootylicious for you babe"? Geez. How ghetto. B

4) Nasty Girl - "Nasty, trashy, sleezy, classless"... Wow, that's about how I'd classify Beyonce these days. "Nasty put some clothes on... Whatcha thinkin' 'bout looking that to' down... Shaking that thang, looking all stank and nasty/ Sure you look cute, girl in them dukes/ Booty all out looking trashy" Is it just me, or is that Beyonce as we speak? Beyonce, maybe you should LISTEN TO YOUR OWN LYRICS!! You're right, "put some clothes on girl". C

5) Fancy - One of the best songs on the CD. B

6) Apple Pie A La Mode - I HATE songs with no meaning besides bar hopping for some dude. And this song has some of the stupidest lyrics - " I said 'Hey boy, would you enjoy sitting next to me in yo corduroys/ I'm from Texas, my girl is from Illinois... Are you married 'cuz your very very extaordinary kinda scary..." Yeah, Beyonce's a great songwriter... C-

7) Sexy Daddy - This is like Apple Pie A La Mode continued. And it's too long. C

8) Independent Women Part II - This song makes me howl with laughter. The music sounds like a sample from The Looney Toons. I expect to hear Bugs Bunny to sing "What's up, Doc" in the middle of the song. And the lyrics are basically recycled from the first I.W. with a few added lines. It's so silly. Who's brilliant idea was this? Wanna take a guess? Seven letters B-E-Y-O-N-C-E, surprise surprise. Yeah, she's soooo smart. C

9) Happy Face - This song could've been cut in half. It makes my head hurt with Beyonce "Ohhhhhhhh"ing and "I'm flying, I'm flying, I'M FLYING!!!!!!" for the last half of the song. You're flying Beyonce, we get it. It's still pretty good, though. B-

10) Emotions - This song is probably the best song Destiny's Child has ever done. And notice that it just happens not to be written by Beyonce. It's a Bee Gees song. All of their vocals are wonderful on here. The video sucked. A+

11) Dangerously In Love - Why is Beyonce and company so obsessed with this song? She has a solo version on her CD. Why? It sounds exactly like this one. She sings lead the entire time, which is an atrocity. She thinks she's Whitney Houston or something. All she does is - yodel, basically. And she does it on a lot of songs. She actually thinks she is doing something, screaming and all... Somebody lied to her because she isn't the vocalist she thinks she is. D

12) Brown Eyes - Um, cute. B

13) The Story Of Beauty - Very serious subject here but the ultimate message is uplifting. Beyonce says the song was inspired by a letter from a fan. One of my favorites. A

14) Gospel Medley - Listening to someone who is dating a disgusting fellow like Jay Z sing about Jesus is sickening to me. I prefer listening to Michelle's solo work, which is above Beyonce's and Kelly's. F

15) Outro (DC-3) Thank You - Um, whatever. It's like a little peom to each other. Can't rate it.

Overall, this CD is good to be from an R&B artist. Unlike their past music, the others actually got to sing (SIGH). And that's great because Michelle has a great voice and it's much better than yodeling Beyonce. I guess it deserves three and a half stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars A stepping stone to greatness..., Jan 15 2004
This review is from: Shania Twain (Audio CD)
Well, I've had all of Shania's albums except this one for years and I finally bought it. I had heard most of it over the years so none of it was really surprising. Since the Shania/Mutt team didn't write and produce this, it's nothing like Come On Over and Up. But it still has star quality. Most of the tracks are really good, even though I rarely listen to any of it besides the first and last tracks What Made You Say That and Crime Of The Century. The ballads aren't up to par with her later ones but There Goes The Neighborhood is one of my favorites. The only song penned by Shania is God Ain't Gonna Getcha For That. This album is good but if you are a fan of Shania's pop laden music, this isn't for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!, Jan 4 2004
This review is from: Stripped (Audio CD)
After Christina's comeback with the video for Dirrty, I was ready to write her off completely. But then I heard Stripped and I found it impossible to totally dislike her. Unlike her rival Britney, Christina actually has talent to back up her idiotic raunchy stunts. Aguilera is so disgusting she makes me gag...but she is one of the best vocalists out there and Stripped is one of the best albums I've ever heard. With the exceptions of a couple songs, this album isn't as sexually charged as you'd think it would be. Well, let's begin:

Can't Hold Us Down (featuring Lil' Kim) - A feminists anthem. I happen not to agree with this song. She's saying - well, you've heard it. The notion of the guys do it so that makes us right is just stupid. I also despise Lil' Kim. But I like this song overall. It has a good beat. Is she referring to Eminem and Fred Durst? 9/10

Walk Away - This song is too long (almost six minutes). Very jazzy. The song is kinda boring until the last couple of minutes or so. Not one of my favorites but I see what she was trying to achieve. 6 1/2 / 10

Fighter - This was my favorite song right away. Christina's vocals floor me. I'd like to hear Mariah try and sing this one! 10/10

Infatuation - A bilingual song. Not very interesting vocally, lyrically or otherwise. This song is one of the few I skip over. 5 /2 / 10

Loving Me 4 Me - Again, doesn't hold my interest at all. 4/10

Impossible - This song was written, produced and arranged by Alicia Keys so it sounds like something she'd sing. Christina sings it better than Alicia could ever dream of. One of my favorites. 10/10

Underappreciated - Another female empowerment song. I've heard a million R&B songs like it. I thought it was a cover until I saw that she wrote it. 5/10

Beautiful - Words cannot describe how much I love this song. I could've done without the homosexual driven video but... 10/10

Make Over - I had to take an Advil the first time I heard this one but I love it. It sounds like a song that was scrapped from Pink's Missundaztood album. Linda Perry, whom Pink worked with on Missundaztood, co-wrote and produced this song. 8/10

Cruz - I love this one. Another great ballad. 9/10

Soar - Very inspiring. 9/10

Get Mine, Get Yours - Well, my enjoyment came to a hault right here. This song is about casual sex. I know she sings about all types of relationships on this CD but I can't accept this. Terrible. 2/10

Dirrty - Two sexual songs after another. Unlike the previous song, I actually like this one. I mean, the vocals and arrangement are so different that I don't pay any attention to the words. I really like the vocal acrobatics here. I hate the video but the song is pretty good. 8 1/2 / 10

The Voice Within - I always liked this song but I love it more than ever now after seeing the video. Britney could never do a song like this that actually means something to people. 10/10

I'm Okay - This song is really heart wrenching. Christina sings about the physical abuse that she and her mother endured and how she deals with the emotional scars everyday of her life. 10/10

Keep On Singing My Song - Kind of like Soar. Very inspiring. 9/10

No matter how much I dislike Christina Aguilera in other ways, she proved with this album that her talent is far and beyond her female constituents. Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson - they are all put to shame with this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Follow Up To Baby One More Time, Jan 4 2004
This review is from: Oops!...I Did It Again (Audio CD)
Britney's sophomore album is really good. I would give it five stars but I just can't bring myself to give any of her work five stars. That would be equating her music with others who are real musicians. And this little lip synching, lying, cheating witch doesn't deserve it. But Oops! is jam-packed with upbeat songs that are pretty enjoyable.

1. Oops! I Did It Again - 8/10
2. Stronger - 9/10
3. Don't Go Knockin' On My Door - 9 1/2 / 10
4. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - 8/10
5. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know - 7 1/2 / 10
6. What U See (Is What U Get) - 8/10
7. Lucky - 10/10
8. One Kiss From You - 9/10
9. Where Are You Now - 8/10
10. Can't Make You Love Me - 10/10
11. When Your Eyes Say It - 4/10
12. Dear Diary - 1/10

The last two songs shouldn't even be on here. ZZZZZZZ. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know was produced by Shania Twain's husband/producer Mutt Lange. You can really tell. It would've been better if Shania or another country singer had've recorded it. Overall, this album is artistically better than Baby One More Time and it's the perfect follow up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Britney, Jan 3 2004
This review is from: Britney (Audio CD)
It's really hard to write good descriptions of Britney's CDs. They all have the same up beat, dance floor friendly formula that grows artistically each time. So that would mean that 'Britney' is basically the same formula, only with a bit more maturity. This is her best effort so far. Well, I haven't heard In The Zone and chances are I never will because I'm not buying anything else by this Madonna butt-kissing little sneak. She has sunk to a new low these days and I'm through with her. I just listen to this and her last two CDs. And I very rarely do that. This is how I rate each song:

1. I'm A Slave 4 U - TOO SEXUAL. And it isn't that good in every other aspect, either. I dunno why everyone loves this song so much. 2 1/2 stars

2. Overprotected - Not too much to say about this one. Loved it at first but the clutter began to bother me. It's still good, though. 4 stars

3. Lonely - One of the best songs on the album. 5 stars

4. I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman - I think this is her best ballad to date. Plus, this is the only song she can actually sing live! WOW! 5 stars

5. Boys - I hate songs with no meaning besides going at it on the dance floor. The worst song on here. 1 star

6. Anticipating - My favorite Britney song ever. Great to listen to in the car! 5 stars

7. I Love Rock 'n Roll - It's okay. Her overenunciation of some of the words is funny. You always know when someone is singing Britney's version... 3 stars

8. Cinderella - I immediately thought "Lucky" when I heard this song. It has the same vibe. 4 stars

9. Let Me Be - One of my favorite Britney songs ever. 5 stars

10. Bombastic Love - It's really hard to describe... It's very fun and cute. 4 1/2 stars

11. That's Where You Take Me - I immediately thought of NSYNC's The Two Of Us (on Celebrity). It's okay. I usually skip it. 2 1/2 stars

12. What It's Like To Be Me - The guy she cheated on, former boyfriend Justin Timberlake, contributes his vocals to this one. The fake rock/r&b element is a little overkill but it's good. 4 stars

Let's face it, Britney doesn't have real talent. Her producers are the ones who make her music enjoyable. But this CD is good.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'll stick with Rush, thank you, Jan 2 2004
Let's get one thing straight, Rush Limbaugh has more integrity in his little pinky than this "man" has in his entire body. If you're someone on the left and you actually want to enlighten yourself, buy Democratic Senator Zell Miller's new book A National Party No More. He's trying to save your butts so you can actually be taken seriously. And if you're too partisan to hear what a conservative Democrat has to say, try Red White And Liberal by Alan Colmes. At least he lays out the liberal agenda without attacking people. Or maybe you don't care about nice liberals, just the mentally unstable nuts who make money by calling people names in the title of their books. No matter what faults conservatives may have, having a lepracaun face liar like Franken calling them on it is just the pot calling the kettle black. Maybe Rush ought to write a book called Al Franken Is A Buck Tooth Nerd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut Album, Jan 2 2004
This review is from: Baby, One More Time (Audio CD)
I hate Britney these days but this CD is great. Well, I really don't listen to it anymore because I listened to it endlessly in the '90s. But it is a great debut.

...Baby One More Time - The song that started it all. Britney says the meaning of the song isn't sexual. What is she talking about, then? I love the beat. 10/10

(You Drive Me) Crazy - I really like it but I like the Stop remix better. 9/10

Sometimes - Pretty good but not the best ballad on here. 8/10

Soda Pop - This used to be one of my favorites but it grew incredibly annoying. The song makes no sense whatsoever. 8/10

Born To Make You Happy - My favorite ballad on the album. 10/10

From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart - I used to love it but I'm tired of it now. 8/10

NOTE: The songs go down hill from here.

I Will Be There - Very mediocre but good. 7/10

I Will Still Love You - If Britney was doing this song alone, it'd be much better. But this Don Philip dude is terrible. His voice is sickening. 5/10

Thinkin' About You - Good but it's kind of annoying because of her repeating the chorus so many times. 7 1/2 / 10

E-Mail My Heart - Extremely corny. But it is pretty. 8/10

The Beat Goes On - One of my favorites. 10/10

I really like this CD and most of Britney's work. But I still think she should disappear into a cloud of smoke. She doesn't care about her young fans or herself. If she did, she wouldn't live the life and present the image that she does. So, yes, the music is pretty good but I regret buying her products and supporting her because she isn't contributing a great deal to this society.
