come on do the whole thing, Jun 16 2004
"ramshackle, raucous, raw. the three r's." Pope John Paul announced this into his microphone after hearing this album at some event in 1983. All I hear is four snot-nosed punks putting their lives on the line in some doomed attempt to save rock & roll from 1980's Sting and his wretched Police.

aesthetic nihilism, Jun 16 2004
this music is so vacuous it almost breaks you heart, but it sounds so F-ing good. "baby I dont care" is one of the most nihilistic bubble gum songs of the 1980's.

this album puts me to sleep. all right you got a formula great how about some songwriting, although I do like that button song.bottom line if the white stripes really are the de rigeur of modern rock how come all them songs sound the same, and how come that dude wants to be a bad-ass dandy?what is a bad-ass dandy? who took all my stolen candy.(15 second guitar solo)man these things just write themselves

Westerberg is back., Aug 23 2002
Paul westerberg has finally carved himself out a nice little niche. His Grandpaboy disc is almost as good as Pleased to meet me. Which is pretty f--king good.

Neat, Aug 1 2002
Really really fresh. Kind of like Slint meets the DB's.

Eh., Aug 1 2002
Not bad, but not particularly amazing either. The songs don't really distinguish themselves from each other, and Pernice's voice is way too mannered.
