5.0 out of 5 stars Great, monumental! Tim Owens rules!, Dec 1 2007
There is a lot of debate about the recruitment of Tim Owens in Iced Earth, and with all my respect for Matt Barlow, Owens IS BETTER. He did an amazing job with Judas Priest and with his solo project Beyond Fear (which he's doing in parallel without leaving Iced Earth. The Glorious Burden, his first Iced Earth album, was a masterpiece, in my opinion their overall best album. Hats off to Jon Schaffer for the choice of vocalist and for the perfect songwriting! Framing Armageddon is another perfect album. This band is constantly getting better!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but their worst. Bring back Tarja or take any opera singer!, Oct 20 2007
What a difference a vocalist can make! Anette sounds just OK as any of the millions of pop singers around or American Idol's top 20. The uniqueness of Nightwish was the combination of well-orchestrated music and Tarja's voice. I thought they will hire an opera singer again but they went to an average singer sounding like Avril Lavigne. On the other hand, the music is still good if you don't count the super cheesy Eve. And it is obvious that they have tuned down the vocal arrangements in order to adapt the songs to Anette's restricted vocal capabilities. Actually, Marco is a very good singer and he could have sung more on the album. What a waste!
And if this is not enough, just listen to some of their recent live performances of some old material like Wishmaster or I Wish I Had an Angel. It is painfful to watch and poor Anette doesn't look very comfortable singing them, too. They should never perform these songs live with Anette.
Obviously, Nightwish want to sell more by attracting some Brittney Spears fans (although these people are not used to complex orchestrations), but they are on their way of losing a lot of old fans like me. Five stars for the music, two for the vocals, average of 3.5 stars, minus 0.5 stars for Eve =3 stars final note.
Having said that, this album sung by Tarja and arranged differently could be as good as Once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Black Sabbath DVD! Musical masterpiece!, Sep 15 2007
Black Sabbath with Dio are no less Black Sabbath than the one with Ozzy. The sound is there, the mood as well, the vocals are even better. It's a treat for the fans no matter how they are calling themselves. The three albums with Dio are one of the Best Black Sabbath have ever recorded. Heaven And Hell alone is among the top 100 best rock albums ever together with two other albums sung by Dio- the Rainbow album "Rising" and Dio's"Holy Diver". All songs on this DVD (including the new ones) are great. The quality of sound and music is an example for the new bands-it's perfect. And who would think that Dio turned sixty-five last July- he sings as powerful as when he was 30. A lifetime experience!
Considering the annoying interview breaks on "The Last Supper" this is the best Black Sabbath DVD to date!

5.0 out of 5 stars Even heavier as Painkiller!, Aug 26 2007
This review is from: Jugulator (Audio CD)
I want to ask why somebody was able to put four identical 1-star reviews which I reported as an abuse.
An abuse is also a review "This is the worst album I have ever heard by anybody". It doesn't mean anything! It could be written by a Britney Spears fan who should write a review about Britney Spears.

I edit this review now, 4 years later and I still find this album extraordinary. I couldn't stop listening to it for months when it came out. The great thing about Judas Priest is that they don't have two albums sounding similar. It's true for the Ripper's era. Therefore they have problems with their fans. Some like their early prog-sounding albums, others-Painkiler and nothing else. Or Stained class only. Surprisingly, Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for vengeance have less haters. There are fans of the somewhat lighter and more melodic British Steel or the painfully awful and cheesy Turbo. Many fans hate their recent masterpiece Nostradamus because they cannot associate it with previous Priest albums. The good thing is, Priest do what they feel like and that's why they deserve upmost respect. I hope they'll be around with more stunning and controversial albums.

In the dark age of 90's dull grunge and alternative music (can't call it metal!), Judas Priest decided to remind us what real heavy metal is! After seven years they've found the perfect voice for them after Halford's defection. Tim Owens proved to be one of the greatest voices of modern metal (check his amazing work with Iced Earth and his own band Beyond Fear). Jugulator is an amazing album showing the great range of Tim's voice (at times very similar to Halford and yet so different at the lower register. The album sounds like Painkiller part 2. I think all eight songs are perfect-from the smashing opener Jugulator to the epic masterpiece Cathedral Spires. Great job from a legendary band!

5.0 out of 5 stars A killer album from WASP!, Jun 7 2007
This review is from: Dominator (Audio CD)
Well, this album won't change your world, but it's exactly what you would expect from a WASP album- groundbreaking, loud and brutal melodies, excellent vocals from Blackie Lawless and you'll feel lucky that they don't try to do pretentious or modern things, because they are WASP! And they sound more authenic than the vast majority of the newer bands in the same style. And that's why I love them!

5.0 out of 5 stars A killer album from the Dio Years!, April 10 2007
This review is from: Dehumanizer (Audio CD)
I don't consider Black Sabbath with Dio less than Sabbath with Ozzy. People who say that are narrow-minded. This is what great musicians do! DEHUMANIZER is a magnificent, dark and heavy album. No weak songs (like Walk Away on Heaven and Hell), different from the previous two. Great Job!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Show on earth!, Dec 30 2006
There is no better show from any other band on Earth! I consider this DVD together with Live aus Berlin the best two in my whole collection! After 5 consecutive albums -masterpieces, showing different sides of the band, this is the ultimate Rammstein show! Everything on this DVD is perfect- the sound, the picture quality (I'm talking about the main concert in France). This is a live show from a band which loves doing it and the fans obviously enjoy every moment of it ! After 10 years Rammstein sound stronger than ever! They have grown so much musically without losing the raw sound from the earlier albums. And the unique twisted poetry and passion are still giving you goosebumps ( If you don't know German you miss a lot of it). The omnipresent fire on stage makes you feel burning along. I am sure they have many more successfull years to come! A must for every metal fan no matter your style preference!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD, wrong format!, Dec 27 2006
I ordered this DVD from DVDLEGACY and the format was PAL. It didn't play on any of my two DVD players. I've seen the concert and it's great, but be aware if you buy it from Amazon -you can be fooled by their announcement that the DVD was NTSC format! I'm still waiting for my refund, hope I'll get it! It's a shame that the North American Edition of such a great DVD is so belated!

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece from beginning to end!, Nov 19 2006
This review is from: News Of The World (Audio CD)
This album is a classic Queen album from their peak in the seventies! From We will Rock You/We are the Champions as a start to the groundbreaking Sheer Heart Attack and the deliciously perverted Get Down Make Love, the heavy rock ballad Too Late, styles are changing throughout the album, to finish with the beautiful cabaret-style Melancholy Blues. A mighty album in a series of milestone albums from one the best bands ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars The legacy of a legendary band-a masterpiece!, Nov 19 2006
This review is from: Innuendo (Audio CD)
I don't think many bands finish their carreers with an album they can be proud of. More than that- a true masterpiece! Queen have done just that! When I first listened to it I thought Freddie's illness was a stupid rumour. Sometimes tragic events lead to the creation of great pieces of art. This is Queen's darkest album and yet it is so enjoyable. Innuendo starts strong and reminds of Queen of the seventies (with a nice accoustic guitar work from Yes's Steve Howe contrasting Brian May's heavier solos). Monumental start of the album. I'm Going Slightly Mad is a beautiful theatrical song. I can't live with You, Headlong and Hitman are classic Queen rockers. The only weaker song on the album is Delilah, about Freddie's cat. The Show Must Go On is one of the best songs written by Queen and sung by Freddie (hats off to Brian May -it was his idea, he wrote the music and the most of the lyrics). Overall- a stunning, deeply emotional farewell album from one of the most popular and unique bands on Earth- they have exceeded the popularity of The Beatles in their own country according to recent polls!
