A film with a powerful message for our times!, Nov 23 2007
This is just a Must See movie, as it has a powerful message apt for the times in which we are living. Though V himself is taking personal revenge in the way of killing the leaders in control, his appeal to people is not one of violence. He appeals to people to wake up from their slumber and stand up against the endless lies and brutality of the regime. That this is the message is clearly seen in his speeches as well as the way in which the people respond to it. The scene at the end of the film where thousands of people, young and old march unarmed, hand in hand against the oppressors and the troops, is an extremely powerful message and reminiscent of the power of Gandhi's message of non-violence and civil disobedience. As this non-violent uprising culminates in the film on the 5th of November, it is a timely reminder to go out and buy this video and let the message sink in. As a follow up reading "1984" by George Orwell, is eerily close in describing the fascist society that is shown in the film and sadly also close to the way things are going. The book "Political Ponerology" is another recommendable book that details the process by which a society gets to become a totalitarian state.

A spectacular cinematographic feast, Nov 22 2007
No translation is needed for this movie. It is a very powerful film, which is a visual feast. It portrays without any words both the creative principle as well as the destructive principle of the human spirit. A voyage that in pictures and accompanying music shows a multitudes of cultures, landscapes, religious practices and beliefs that has a profound impact on the viewer. It is both celebratory and sobering at the same time. Highly recommended and especially on a big screen if possible to get the most from the stunning visuals!

Powerful film with a very realistic portrayal!, Nov 21 2007
This is a great movie with a sobering message. The showing in this movie of how Big Pharma uses poor African countries to test run their drugs before potentially releasing them into the West is all to true. The headline in the news today was "Nigeria Takes On Pfizer over 'Killer Drug'" and is just one such example of how close to the truth the film is. See this movie and be aware that the events portrayed are actually happening. To understand what kind of people would deliberately do such things, read the book "Political Ponerology" by Andrew Lobaczewski and the book by Robert Hare called "Without conscience". It explains a lot that is worth knowing.

Highly recommended!, Nov 21 2007
It is said that if we don't learn from history we are bound to repeat it. Could it be that the actors journey in this movie shows a little glimpse as to the souls journey if we assume that we have a soul? That we only really graduate once we have learned the lessons that are here on this planet and that otherwise we will just get reincarnated over and over and given another chance at learning. Initially the character, once he realises that he is "stuck" starts abusing his power and sees how he can fulfill his hedonistic desires by manipulating events and people. As he gets bored with himself and his tricks, he discovers the creative principle, and starts on the journey of serving others and contribute to life and thus he starts learning. So this movie had a strong effect on me and I rate it highly both because it a highly entertaining movie, which is well acted, but especially because of the deeper layer that is there to be seen. I would recommend the book "The Secret History of the World and How to Get Out Alive" by Laura Knight-Jadczyk, as it explores in depth the idea that life is a school, where we have the possibility to learn.
