HELLA SCARY!!!!, Jan 25 2004
Wow, I had no idea so many other people were traumitized by this film when they were kids! I don't feel so alone now. My sister and I saw this film back in the early 80s and it scared the living crap out of me. I couldn't sleep for maybe 2 weeks straight after watching it. I kept thinking that damn doll was underneath my bed or opening my door. Every little noise that I heard in my room I thought was that bastard walking around my bed. UGH I never wanna go through that again! I used to hate taking baths cause of that scene where she tries to drown it in the tub and it pops it's ugly head out of the water. To this very day, I see a green old suitcase and I think of her trying to capture it in there. What I don't get is WHY on earth would she even buy such a hideous looking thing in the first place! I'd never bring such an evil looking thing like that into my living room and I would have tossed it outside the window the second I got my hands on it. The damn doll is scary enough just looking at it, when you add him running around like a maniac with that knife and making that horrible screaming sound well it's just a zillion times worse. I am 27 years old now and I have seen this movie since I was a child and I STILL find it very frightening. I try to laugh at how ridiculous the whole thing is but I can't get over my fear of it. To this day I won't watch it, I saw it on DVD the other day in a store and I nearly freaked just seeing the cover. I hope the people that made this movie know how many children and adults it has terrified over the years. Karen Black is once scary chick! She will always remind me of that movie and therefore I can never watch one of her movies again lol. We should start a Trilogy of Terror therapy group!! lol

We want special features!!!!!, Sep 17 2003
Yeah ok, so Sixteen Candles has the original soundtrack, while that is a very good reason to buy this re-issued DVD, it's not good enough! I have both 16 Candles and The Breakfast Club on DVD from it's first release and I will hold on to them until Universal releases a special edition! I want a REUNION commentary, featurette, deleted scenes, alternate scenes, outtakes, videos etc! Until then I am not spending more money on these dvds. I'm hoping when the 20th anniversary rolls around we'll get something worthy.

100% Guilty Pleasure!!, May 26 2003
I've loved Grease 2 since I first saw it back in 1982. Ok yes it's not the greatest movie in the world and it was never as popular as the original Grease, but I can't help but enjoy watching it every single time. First of all, the songs are much catchier! "Cool Rider" is so awesome and 10 times better than any song you can find on the original Grease soundtrack. The chemistry between Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Phieffer is awesome. Stephanie Zanoni is the COOLEST pink lady ever! It may be immature and sex filled, but the flick is all in good fun and I am so glad it's finally making it to DVD and widescreen. I give it two thumbs up :)

All You Need Is this DVD!, April 16 2003
I became a Beatles fan when I first watched the Anthology on ABC back in 1995. I thought I had seen the best documentary ever on them, but there was so much more to be seen! The one that aired on television was about 7 or 8 hours long, this wonderful dvd contains 11 hours of pure Beatles magic! Anything and everything you ever wanted to know, hear, or see is on this dvd. There is footage I've never seen before and performances of so many of their classics. My favorites is the footage of them first starting out all the way through their first trip to America. It looks great, it sounds great, and the story is amazing. The bonus features are so awesome, listening to the three surving members (yes before George passed away) talk about how they created the songs. Just hearing them tell stories about the band was so bittersweet. I was especially moved when Ringo spoke of what it was like recording Free As A Bird and strange it was without John. This dvd is a MUST for any true Beatles fan, it's the best documentary you'll ever find. After viewing it, you will understand why The Beatles simply are the best band in the world.

NO Extreme? No Good!, Mar 16 2003
I agree with just about everyone else who has reviewed this DVD, how can the people who edited this cut out the BEST performance of the concert which was Extreme's medley of Queen songs. I thank my lucky stars I still have it on tape from when MTV first aired the concert 10 years ago. It's my favorite part of the show and by far one of the coolest moments. The band, most especially Gary Cherone, payed tribute to Freddie and Queen in the best way I've ever seen. The medley of songs were performed with such excitment and the audience loved them. So did I :) This DVD just starts the concert with Joe Elliott doing Tie Your Mother Down, that's like the middle of the show! There were several performances cut out mainly Metallica, Guns 'N Roses, Def Leppard, and the above mentioned Extreme. This DVD needs to be re-issued in it's entirety. I did, however, like those Freddie segments included on the dvd that were shown to the audience during intermission. Those were really cool. Great concert but not shown to it's fullest potential on this dvd and that's a real shame. QUEEN AND FREDDIE deserve more...and so do the fans :)

Grease is STILL the word!, Dec 23 2002
I LOVE THIS FILM! I've had to suffer many years watching Grease in it's horrendous pan and scan VHS format. When I first took a look at the widescreen dvd version I was blown away. I was seeing actors in scenes that weren't there before! It looked absolutely beautiful, it was breathtaking. It sounds great, looks great, and IS just spectacular still 24 years later. My only problem with this release is a few special features. We get a featurette with most of the actors talking about the film and a trailer but that's about it. I was hoping for some deleted scenes or outtakes and a commentary. I did love the booklet with all the song lyrics, that was so cool. Overall I am happy with this dvd mainly because it was so long in the waiting and it just looks so well done and everytime I view I remember why it such an important piece of the 1970s.

It's about time!, Dec 22 2002
Great Scott!! I've waited for the release of the Back To The Future Trilogy for quite some time now and I couldn't be happier that it's finally here! Yes I know all about the mis-framed widescreen versions, but I've seen all three discs and I don't see anything wrong with them. Not so much that I have to give the dvd set a one star rating or even return the movies. I love these films because of the stories behind them and the acting and the affects. If I can't see every bitty piece of it, I'm not going to get that upset over it. I suppose the only way to truly see the difference is to compare it to a perfectly framed version. In any event, the dvd box set is awesome. The transfer of these pictures look so clear and so colorful and the sound is blowing me away. I am actually hearing sounds in there I'd never heard before and I've seen these movies many many times! The extras are very good as well, I especially love the deleted scenes and outtakes. The menus are very cool too. All in all, I am not gonna get bent out of shape over the whole widescreen issue, I am looking at these films for what they are and for the reason I've loved them for so long. They have great storytelling and humor and well they are just so much fun to watch. BTTF is my all time favorite film and this box set has become my all time favorite dvd, I know that's heavy isn't it? :)

Great Piece of Work!, Aug 9 2002
After watching this film, I no longer felt that I was one of the few people in this world who believes music can save one's soul. That's not exactly the message that this movie is giving, but it's saying it's ok to say music is everything to you, music can take you to any place you want to go, it can bring back any memory you wish, and it's ok to sit and go through agony trying to figure out your top ten favorite songs! This movie was funny, true to life, very honest, and really unique in it's message. John Cusack was awesome and Jack Black had me rolling, he has such a great future in comedies. He's a terrific singer too! Awesome Awesome Movie :)

This DVD is EXCELLENT!, Aug 9 2002
I've loved Speed since I first saw it at the movies in the summer of 1994. I bought the VHS as soon as it was released. Much to my disappointment, when it was released on DVD it has little to know special features. So you can imagine my surprise and sheer joy when I saw this five star collection. !!Muy bueno!! It has EVERYTHING you'd want to know about the making and production of this action flick. It has featurettes on the making of the stunts, visual effects, interviews with the entire cast, music videos, still galleries, trailors, etc etc. The movie is shown in it's original anamorphic widescreen version and it's in mint condition! It's an excellent film and it finally got the DVD is so rightly deserved for so long. Two thumbs up! :)

Classic Coming of Age Film, July 20 2002
I can't say enough wonderful things about Stand By Me. It's superbly acted by everyone and has so much more meaning than just another "kids" flick. The Goonies this is not, it says so much in such a short time. It's FUNNY as hell sometimes and deeply moving other times. Wil Wheaton is great as Gordy, the sad doy eyed kid with a father who is about as sensitive as a brick wall and an imagination that could sell about as many stories as Stephen King. River Phoenix was stupendous as always, showing warmth and charm and such great talent. Corey was funny and disturbing, classic Feldman acting. Jerry O'Connell was priceless as the lovable Vern-o! "I brought the comb!" Plus we get the devishly wonderful Keifer Sutherland as the bully from hell. How could someone so hot be such an a-hole in every 80s movie?! But I love that guy, he adds the flavor to this movie. As an even added bonus we get two scenes with the always favorite John Cusask, as Gordy's deceased brother Denny. This movie has it all and I never tire of watching it. The DVD was quite awesome! I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful features, including the really cool behind the scenes featurette, featuring of course the entire cast looking so much older. Listening to their stories was about as entertaning as the film. Great job on the dvd, we even get the Stand By Me video! :)
