5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story of true friendship, Nov. 27 2010
I just saw this movie for the first time the other day, and I absolutely loved it! Richard Harris and Robert Duvall are spot-on in their respective roles, and I can't believe that either or both weren't nominated for Academy Awards that year.
This is a very sweet and gentle movie, with the underlying theme of how two men become friends late in their lives, and each helps the other to improve in their own way, but at the same time they also accept the flaws in the other person. A very touching film, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bugliosi's rage is evident, Sept. 25 2008
Be prepared to do some thinking outside the box if you read this book, but it will certainly pay off. Renowned former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi makes a compelling case that U.S. President George W. Bush could be realistically put on trial for murder (and possibly given the death penalty!) for his utterly false reasoning in going to war with Iraq.
Bugliosi's justifiable rage percolates throughout the book, his main argument being this: Bush said Saddam Hussein was concealing weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) in Iraq, and therefore this presented an imminent danger to the national security of America. But as we all know, no WMDs were ever found in Iraq, therefore Bugliosi argues that the reason behind the whole war was a sham, and the thousands of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq should be on the legal record of Bush.
If U.S. Presidents (or any high elected official) could be prosecuted legally for murder, perhaps they would put a lot more thought into going to war if they knew they could be held accountable for their actions in a court of law - just like the rest of us.

4.0 out of 5 stars A dark meditation on religion and revenge, June 23 2008
This review is from: The King [Import] (DVD)
You should only watch this movie if you're prepared for a very dark viewpoint on what happens when religion and evil clash. Having said that, the movie is a highly original take on the sometimes hypocrisy of religion, with outstanding performances from the two leads, Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt. For those with an overly optimistic or sunshiny outlook, this film is not for them. However, for those who believe that good does not necessarily always triumph over evil (even though we want it to), The King is a disturbing movie that will force you to think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bugliosi correctly focuses on the evidence, Nov. 6 2007
This review is from: Reclaiming History (Hardcover)
Even though I was born six years after JFK was assassinated, I have always been fascinated by the event and by Kennedy himself. I was always a believer that there was a conspiracy in the assassination, but Bugliosi's brilliant book has converted me. I am now convinced that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, and he was solely responsible for this tragic event. The reason I am so convinced is because of the massive amount of evidence Bugliosi presents which points directly at Oswald. He also takes the time to thoroughly debunk all the weird and wild conspiracy theories (some of which I used to believe). I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has been interested by the JFK phenomenon. Obviously, this massive tome doesn't fall into the category of "light reading", so you should only attempt it if you're truly interested in the topic. Having said that, the JFK assassination was one of the most important events of the 20th century, so true history buffs should definitely devote the time to reading Bugliosi's book. You won't be disappointed.
