5.0 out of 5 stars The Queen of Life, April 18 2010
I may be biased being a huge Madonna fan, but isn't everyone that does these sort of reviews anyway? I challenge you to watch this and not be impressed. This tour is bordering the energy levels she's demonstrated nearly 20 years ago with the Who's That Girl Tour and Blond Ambition Tour. She just doesn't tire.
The song selecation is well balanced with her newer material from the Hard Candy album including the energetic funky opener of Candy Shop to the pimped out Beat Goes On.
And she does updated and remixed versions of classic; Vogue, Into The Groove, Borderline, Like a Prayer and La Isla Bonita. Never one to repeat herself, she doesn't fall into the nostalgia pocket of performing her classic material note for note. This may put off the casual fan, but Madonna is a creative energy. And she knows as an entertainer, she's got to be entertained doing the material she's been performing over 25 years now.

I know some felt this tour fell flat from the previous Confessions Tour but i beg to differ. I think she gave a real performance this time around instead of simply walking through the numbers with cheesy gimmicks (disco crucifix anyone?) Her energy is absolutely out of this world. People will always take aim at her vocals, but she does demonstrate great range on Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, You Must Love Me/ Don't Cry for Me Argentina and La Isla Bonita. Besides, give me a performer like Madonna anyday over a boring baladeer.

Madonna is a genius of performance and she continues to impress with her craft. I'm excited to see what she will bring to the stage in the next 10 years as she continues to tour under her new Live Nation contract. I know it never will be dull, it never had been. She is her own work of art; from her mouth and mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Important Female Star of the Last 25 years, Oct 14 2009
This review is from: Celebration (2 CD) (Audio CD)
There isn't much explanation needed as to why this collection is a necessity in any music fans catalogue. Even if you're not the biggest fan of Madonna, these songs speak for themselves. Each track has made a mark in pop culture through the recognizable melodies which have ringed through the radio speakers for the past 25 years of her remarkable reign as the top selling female superstar.
Images circle through the listeners mind of the visual brilliance she has presented through her videos and performances to accompany these songs. Each track was an event of its time.

No matter what ones' personal opinion is of her, there is no denying her impact. Show me another star that has come after her with such a successful track record. Exactly. Let this be the one Madonna purchase you buy if you have nothing of hers in your collection.
This is a must own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Success breeds jealousy, Mar 13 2009
This review is from: 4 Minutes - Maxi (Audio CD)
No matter what negative statements others have to say facts are facts. This was one of the most popular/successful singles of 2008. It clicked with listeners and proved that Madonna can still churn out the hit singles. Double platinum single; her second since Vogue in 1990. As I said facts are facts.
She's not a great musician, but she's a genius still nontheless. My hat is off to her after the continuous years while everyone else expresses their disatisfaction because of their own lack of success in life.

4.0 out of 5 stars She's not just going to roll over and die..., Nov 29 2008
This review is from: Hard Candy (Audio CD)
...as many of her detractors hope for. Hard Candy is far from being a brilliant album or the best in pop music but she's still miles ahead of the competition. She's still the entire package with great danceable songs with infectious melodies and hard hitting beats.
This is the closest Madonna has been in the new millennium to replicating her early 80s dance image and it appears many are in fear of her being invincible in the industry. Ironically enough everyone appears to want to have the "old" Madonna back and this album has all the qualities of the earlier era of her career.

People now criticize her for teaming up with accomplished producers as opposed to the underground "groundbreaking" sounds she would discover and manipulate to her own advantage. So now she's playing a different game, if not more humbling and now it's become apparently more desperate on her part. Perhaps people would like to consider that Madonna is coming off a hugely successful album "Confessions on a Dancefloor" and wasn't in need of "reviving" her career. Perhaps she actually does appreciate Pharrel and Timbaland's work and wanted to mesh it with her own pop/dance sensibilities. And Hard Candy is living proof of it going according to plan.

Regardless of the critical response the album has received she's still ahead of the game. Michael Jackson is facing yet another trial, Janet Jackson is having problems sustaining a tour, Britney is nuts, etc. No one has been able to play the game as well as Madonna. And whether you pray for her to go away or sit and bicker about her, she's going nowhere anytime soon. So continue to enjoy the ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Packaging, a must for Madonna fans, Jun 20 2006
Madonna really makes me moist. And this latest release from the most successful female act in history is no acception. For the first time, a Madonna release is jam packed with extras that would satisfy the savage Madonna-fan beast.

First, take a documentry being the follow up to 1990's Truth or Dare. Madonna decided to have her peace harrassed yet again as she toured worldwide on her 2004 Re-invention Tour. The viewer examines Madonna's life on tour, her family life, her partying like there's no tomorrow, examining her spirituality, and her as a human (something we tend to neglect.)It is a very insightful experience being a Madonna fan or not.

Next add a gaggle of cut scenes from the original television broadcast.

And then top it all off with a disk with live performances from the Re-invention tour. Madonna really is a great live performer, and her voice is much stronger than it used to be. Don't believe me? Listen to the cd and discover for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for the original mix, Jun 14 2006
I'm generally not a fan of mixes, but the album version is more than enough reasons to love this single.

Madonna just keeps moving forward with her sound. Madonna commands a dancefloor with the spacey, futuristic sounding dancefloor filler.

What other artist in the mainstream can demonstrate so many different styles in pop/dance than Madonna?

Go for it.

3.0 out of 5 stars The album that created the star named Madonna, Mar 5 2005
This review is from: Like a Virgin (Audio CD)
Previously to this album, Madonna released a self titled album, which wasn't too big until this album hit the market.

This is the album which made Madonna a star and a worldwide name.
This is the album that gave her first US #1 hit out of her 12. That hit was none other than the title track "like a virgin." Almost controversial being that her name is Madonna... But it worked!
It also spawned off a hit which would give her the name which she would later regret to have and rebel against. Material Girl, which had a rockier edge to it while remaining an 80s pop anthem.
Other hits include Dress You Up, and Angel.
During this era Madonna was big but was still in heavy competition with none other with Cyndi Lauper. In that time they said Cyndi would outlast Madonna do to her better voice.
So much for that, as Madonna had become a marketing genius to be reackoned with.
This was also the era when Madonna made her big screen appearance with "Desperately Seeking Susan," which spawned off an 80s anthem and arguably her greatest dance hit, "Into the Groove." Into the Groove is famous for being the b-side to "Angel" rather than the #1 hit it was destined to be. Although it could never chart, it still managed to get massive radio airplay and is still recognized as a huge success for Madonna.

Although this album made Madonna a huge success, aside from the singles, a lot of weak songs are present. Pretender and Shoo Bee Doo just don't stand out and aren't that great.
Over and Over is catchy, but still very shallow and not too inspired. "Stay" however, is a great song with a great heavy sound and great lyrics.
All in all this album doesn't deserve more than a 3 out of 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars This album is pretty "Bad" for MJ, Feb 19 2005
This review is from: Bad (Audio CD)
I can listen to this and only think that MJ wanted to have Thrillermania all over again.
He didn't seem to move anywhere with his craft from Thriller and never really evolved as an artist.
Only caught up in the fame and fortune game, and the excitement of yelling and screaming fans.
As this was the year Janet was becoming big and her Control album was bigger than this album. Madonna also released her mega hit album True Blue this year.
MJ was fearing them taking his throne so he got weirder and weirder.
This was the same year MJ started molesting children but that was unknow. Yeh he was bad, real bad, and evily bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars How unoriginal, Feb 19 2005
This review is from: American Idiot (Audio CD)
Yeah the concept of American Idiot is exactly the same as Madonna's American Life. So if these fellas think they're original, i laugh in their face.

If you wanna hear real rock music try the Rolling Stones or the Doors. They can craft a good rock song. Green Day come back onto the scene when they need money, they aren't serious about their craft.

They opened the doors for the likes of Good Charlotte and Avril Lavigne. Is that what you call an accomplishment?

Yep MJ's finished!
But he's had many great hits over his career which is undeniable in the world of rock, pop and r&b.
And included is over one hour of bonus material (combined within the 4 discs)
