5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best all-time pop records ever!!, Sep 28 2002
This album has been in my Top 5 list since it first came out more than a decade ago. Till today, it is still one of the most intimate and introspective albums I've ever heard. The hauntingly beautiful voice of George Michael breathing life to the melodies and lyrics in this album is just to heartbreaking at times (as in the reprised version of "Waiting") <<There is no point in moving on/When you've got nowhere to go/The roads that I have travelled on/Well they filled my pockets/And emptied out my soul/You look for your dreams in heaven/But what the hell are you supposed to do when they come true?>> But he also sang in this album the joyfulness of breaking from his past in "Freedom" (and that fantastic video where all previous images relating to him were destroyed. BTW - love this album cover, this whole "new" concept of his "facelessness" as was the Freedom video is a novelty). Also, absolutely loved "Cowboys And Angles" showing us more of his love for jazz that he has shown with "Kissing A Fool". Of course, we now have his "Songs from the Last Century".

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly beautiful !!, Sep 21 2002
A great album to listen to while chilling out with friends. A friend who is a Roswell fan got a copy of this CD and Sense Field's "Save Yourself" was playing when I walked in. By the time it got to Sheryl Crow's "I Shall Believe", I was completely taken. This album also has one of the best versions of the Beatle's "Blackbird" done by the Doves (the other fantastic rendition is by Sarah MacLachlan on the I Am Sam OST). Contributions by some of the best Alt-Rock bands out there (Ash, Coldplay and Travis) also makes it worth litening to. And not to mention that hauntingly beautiful track, "Here With Me" by Dido. One song that should have been on this album which was on the show? Deep Inside of You by Third Eye Blind.

Since this version is the enhanced version, knock yourselves out with the walpaper and screensavers!!

5.0 out of 5 stars UNFORGETABLE, Dec 20 2000
One of the best "Rockumentary" EVER!! The most precious bit in this video is a tie between Larry singing "we are going on a... summer holiday ..." and Bad, performed Live with a little of "Symphathy for the devil" thrown in. Absolutely need to get this, mine's so worn from being played over and over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is THE movie to watch for Christmas!!, Nov 25 2000
The "miracle" in this story is that humanity always shines in, if not override, the insanity of war. A hauntingly beautiful movie, right from the first narrative by William, Will Knott, or better known as Won't. The poignancy is truly heartfelt in scenes when the 19 year-old American soldiers confronted their German counterparts in the Ardennes countryside, who want nothing better than to have snowball fights and celebrate gifts and singing Christmas carols. Though more a "pacifist" movie, the depictions of the violence of war was a necessity, only to prove a point, that war IS violent and insane and that any teenager or chirldren thrown in the situation, would try to make the best of situation and their spirit will withstand the ugliness of the situation. Befitting that the violence is set against the backdop of a blanket of pure white snow (by the way, what is it with Ethan Hawke and snow - Dead Poet's Society, White Fang ...) As for the young soldiers, they were well portrayed by these wonderful "up-and-coming" actors who have now gone on to star in Chicago Hope (Peter Berg), Ellen (Ayre Gross), numerous movies for Ehatn Hawke, Gary Sinise, Frank Whalley and Kevin Dillon. Forget about all those "traditional" christmas movies - It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, or even Home Alone et all (except maybe A Christmas Carol, sans which Christmas wouldn't be Christmas). THIS is the movie to watch this Christmas, one that I've watched every Christmas since 1994!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Abs FAB, man! PICK IT UP!, Aug 1 2000
A patheon of gargoyles for characters, each killed off in ways they are truly deserving ............ a funny yet sad take at everything that was wrong in 80's Britain, there is nothing I have read that comes up to this! The foreshadowing of events the brilliance of the plot has only once been matched, almost - by John Irving in a Prayer for Own Meany. An absolute must read!

1.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere near as good as the 2 Bridget Jones ....., Jul 17 2000
........... or Laura Zigman's' books. By the time I got to the 2nd chapter, it was clear that it was a waste of time. Being a fan of Helen Fielding, I read as many books on more or less the same subject, even if it means ordering over the net and paying that exhorbitant delivery charges. To add salt to the wound, this book was "electronically recomended" based on my Wish List. Give this one a skip, yah. Not even for summer reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Shot, Jan 23 2000
Have watched this movie over and over, relishing different aspects of it at each sitting. Wonderful soundtract too. Has anyone noticed that most of the characters were dressed in green in each scene? That was brilliant, absolutely!
