The Psychic in You: Understand and Harness Your Natural Psychic Power
The Psychic in You: Understand and Harness Your Natural Psychic Power
by Jeffrey A. Wands
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Lessons in Living, Feb. 12 2004
This book is remarkable. It works so well on so many levels. In a gesture of warm welcome to the psychic world, Wands makes the reader feel that there was a place waiting just for you at his table of poignant life lessons, pertinent suggestions and comforting interpretations regarding the psychic world. Wands' evaluation of other-wordly phenomena reminds us that he is not speaking of a world that should be foreign and unfamiliar to us, but that he is taking us all on a journey back to ourselves. Wands helps us to recover a birthright that we somehow lost along the way, and never knew we were missing. It is pivotal for many of us to at least acknowledge the potential for a better understanding of the psychic world, and Wands makes this learning transition feel both sane and safe. In this acknowledgement, he puts the controls back into our own hands, reminding us that it was ours to begin with. Wands writes in a discernably fine style while still remaining approachable. He brings the usually amorphous concept of the "other world" into a manageable and well defined compendium of psychic explanation. From this rampart, we both cease to be afraid of hitherto unknown potentials of psychic communication, and we further become inspired to tap into abilities which were just waiting to be revealed. It is like learning to read; first , learning not to feel threatened by the unknown symbols, then learning to unlock the code, interpreting the symbols into meaningful patterns, and finally applying them to valuable concepts that can make huge changes in how we perceive our lives. While many of us have the ability to read, without the education to decipher the words, we would miss the entire world of literacy. In this book, Wands has helped us to become more psychically capable by teaching us how to read the signs along the way.

This is the book that I turn to when I need some inspiration to get back to the sewing machine. There are just so many wonderful photographs, so clear and beautiful. The blocks seem to have endless subject matters, yet allow you to put them together to create a uniform looking pattern . This book always lifts my spirits, and makes me think that quilt patterns ar endless in their possibilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars not to be missed, July 28 2000
In this book which candidly reveals every detail of existence in the southern lifestyle, I have found more unforgettable humor and perceptions than any other form of entertainment I have yet witnessed (barring Ellen Degeneras' latest HBO comedy special). It is as if King just sat down one day, with a boiling sense of her troubled but well protected youth, and wrote. Wrote endlessly and without thinking, just sketched the facts and did not leave anything out for the sake of being proper. Stories of people who"are just staying awhile" and how southern homes are full of people who took two years to drink a glass of milk. She explains that "Sears sells more camp mattresses and foam rubber pallets in the south thatn anywhere else in the country." Her honesty concerning her parents, her horrific and clinical accounts of Southern myths regarding pregnancy and sex and all that nasty stuff, her shere generosity in sharing truths of human nature, all work together to form a wonderfully magestic and important work of art. Read this book. please.

What could be a more appropriate resource for the new millenium than this compedium of information concerning antiques. Through a delightfully written and totally applicable approach, Carol Prisant helps those of us green to the antiques market guage the potential value of our treasures. For such a broad field of study, Ms. Prisant takes us by the hand through a myriad of antiques, giving us a general yet highly pertinent overview of each category. She then goes into a more in depth explanation, replete with fascinating examples, of what comprises a healthy antique. She seems to provide a minor's hat to each of her readers, and brings us on a wonderful journey of exploration into so many practical and fascinating details of this arena. This was such a fulfilling read, such an inspiration to any of us who search for a more complete understanding of the world of objects around us. She primes us indeed, and serves as a masterful captain in navigating these otherwise confusing waters. This book is written in highly intelligent yet comfortably familiar language, with true respect for us novices. Antiques Roadshow Primer takes center stage on my shelves this year. Bravo! and can we have a Primer 2, please?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift from Uncle Bill, Dec 10 1999
This review is from: Winnie Ille Pu (Paperback)
My daughter was delighted to receive this lovely book for Christmas. She totally enjoyed seeing her old friend Winnie the Pooh given the honor of being translated into classical form. It was a great idea for the author to re-create this book, and to continue to perpetuate an interest in Latin. Nice find!

5.0 out of 5 stars An informative book of importance, May 14 1998
This is a book that completes a well planned study and demonstration of the impact regarding quilts in our American heritage. The overviews in each chapter are written in an easy to read yet highly intelligent fashion, with a fabulous array of photographs to document each junture of North America's quilting heritage. There are many fascinating paths of interest that take one off of the beaten path, and into other domains of history, spanning 200 years of society, tradition and data concerning work, love, and the pure romance of this subject.
