Not as good as the original, but still entertaining, May 3 2013
I am a Kevin Spacey fan, and this is good tv, but not as good as the original British mini-series from which this is taken. As good as Kevin Spacey is, he just can't match the wicked charm that Ian Richardson had in the original House of Cards/To Play the King/The Final Cut. The British story really brings home that, while Francis may not be Macbeth, his wife is definitely Lady Macbeth. I recommend watching both versions (they are both available on Netflix, sorry Amazon). That said, totally support new creative products on new media. Keep it up, Netflix!

Successful gift, May 3 2013
My 14-year-old son is very "into" steampunk design style, and devoured this book when he got it for Christmas. He kept it in his school backpack to have available to read when he had spare time in class. I don't really get the steampunk thing, but my son loved this book. Good enough for me!

Makes great bread, and Cuisinart has an excellent warranty program, May 3 2013
I have used this breadmaker for a few years. I make all my family's bread with it, and pizza dough, so it is used 2-3 times a week. I have not bought bread in the store since I began using it. I have noted a couple of the problems mentioned by other reviews, but found them easy to solve. I had a problem once with the pan coming loose and banging around, but found it was because I had not seated the pan properly and firmly myself when I started the cycle. Just common sense. Once (in 3-4 years) the paddle assembly came out of the pan, but it was easy to get a new one at Personal Edge at my local mall, for $14. The biggest issue I have had is that the motor only lasts about a year with the use I put the machine through. However, living in the GTA, all I have to do is bring the machine to the Conair repair depot in north Toronto, and, due to the excellent warranty, they give me a brand new machine on the spot. Great responsive service, in my experience. My family loves homemade bread, I love knowing exactly what goes into the bread (unlike store-bought); and, when a loaf of bread costs $2.75 at the grocery store, the machine pays for itself quickly. The recipe booklet that comes with it, however, is limited and uninspiring. I bought a couple of good bread machine cookbooks, and haven't looked back.

Great movie for all the family, Feb 24 2012
I don't like 3D at all. I mean, I will forgo seeing a movie if it's only offered in 3D. I find that the 3D technology adds nothing to the plot, story, or characterization: it makes the screen darker and leaves one with tired eyes and a headache. It seems to be merely technological amusement for the tekkies who create it, like free-form jazz jams, which are music for the players, not the listeners, simply self-indulgent noodling. I could think of only two movies I have seen in which 3D added to the experience: "Coraline," and "Avatar." Then I saw "Hugo." My (12 year old) son loved the book, and could not wait to see the movie. He is also no fan of 3D, btw. We both thought this movie was fantastic. The 3D, rather than distracting or annoying, actually enhanced the viewing experience. The opening long shot coming in over the city and flying through to the train station platform was amazing. While mostly following the story of the book, this is truly a movie about making movies; and Scorsese has his Hitchcock moment. You, and your kids, will love this movie; but make sure they read the book first!

MI-5/Spooks Excellent TV, July 11 2010
TV doesn't get much better than this great BBC drama - we have collected all 7 seasons available on DVD, and don't get tired of watching it over again from the beginning every so often. Exciting, challenging plots, but most of all strong characterization from great actors. You'll love it!

How many times can you repeat Allfinanz?, Nov 13 2005
I suspect the editor got hold of the first draft of this book and told the author that it must be at least 200 pages!! Although there are some interesting observations and comparisons of some of the largest companies in Finacial Services (all pillars) the amount of repetition is unbearable. The author's pretext is that the strategy of most organisations in this sector are moving to an Allfinanz model - providing a broad spectrum of services. This could have summarised in far fewer pages. I've given 2 stars because there is some valuable content, just not enough to fill the 200 pages.
