Best 2D to 3D conversion, Dec 23 2012
My rating is based on the 3D. I bought a TV a year ago and the best deal I found was with a TV that was also 3D. There haven't been many 3D Blu-rays that have great 3D and a story I want to revisit more than once. Hugo is the only other 3D film I owned up to now.
When I first started the movie and saw the scenes of the sunken Titanic I was instantly impressed. You would think that the movie was originally filmed with 3D cameras. Even the scenes with the actors on the sets have well defined depth. You do not get the viewmaster effect of cutout figures sitting in front of layers of flat images.
The 3D movie comes on two discs. If you want to just show off the 3D to friends and family without watching the entire film just pop in disc 2. It starts just after the ship hits the iceberg and all the action scenes start.
