Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - GameCube
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - GameCube

4.0 out of 5 stars Got it yesterday, great game, some flaws., March 11 2004
This game is basically the original metal gear solid with new graphics from MGS2 and gameplay from MGS2. It is pretty good, but has 2 major problems. Beat it today, because like the original metal gear, it is kinda short
Voice acting: The new people aren't as good. Mei ling, Naomi, Raven, THE NINJA!, Kenneth Baker.... but the ninja? Why would they change the ninja's voice?(I know who he is, just don't wanna say the name for people who haven't played it yet). The ninja gave a moving speech at the end of metal gear solid. It wasn't as powerful in this remake.
Controls: Awkward! They take a while to get use to. Metroids were awkward, but putting your gun down in this game is a risk. It isn't pressure sensitive, so you have to get use to hitting y and releasing a. You will probably accidentaly fire your gun a bunch of times though.
The gameplay is good though at times. The gun models are FANTASTIC! guns look cool and you really will enjoy the sound effects. The graphics are also slightly better than MGS2.
The fight scenes? Better than MGS2. The ninja gets all the glory as he slices through tons of stuff.
The blood is over the top fantastic. The ninja gets covered in it, because he rocks. 5 stars for blood
Now as for the changes? Well, get use to the controls, but not the new voices. I still love the original voices and will probably still play the playstation version. This game is still good though and they tried not to destroy it in the remake. They did a great job, and definetly proved once again... Konami knows how to make a great game. Buy it for 40 bucks at EB or Babbages and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best movies ever made..., March 11 2004
I truly didn't realize how great a movie this was. I saw the end and didn't feel emotion until I watched the whole thing. The film is truly moving from start to finish. The ending is spectacular, and Mel Gibson plays an awesome character. Things happen that are really awesome. Wallace takes revenge. It isn't just a "Well, let's take the prejudice and make the viewer feel terrible." William Wallace stands up to the English and decides to fight for freedom.
Epic from start to finish. 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought it a few hours ago; Good and Bad, Mostly Good, March 10 2004
The original metal gear solid was great. This remake is great too. It features completely new graphics, new stealth tactics, but the same story. Still, the story was great so why change it? Well, this game is basically the original metal gear, with MGS2 graphics and MGS2 gameplay
I knew there would be a few problems. The main problem is voice acting. The voice actors are different for Mei Ling, Naomi, Kenneth Baker, and the ninja. They changed the ninja's voice. What is that? The ninja(i know his name just don't wanna spoil it) gave a very good speech at the end of Metal Gear Solid about his life. It was moving. This new ninja's voice is kind of younger, and doesn't have the same effect. Mei Ling has a completely different voice actor. Occasionaly when you open the save menu you will hear the old voice saying "wanna save snake?", but that is it. In terms of Naomi, her new voice actor is okay, but it doesn't have the same british accent going. Kenneth Baker has a new voice actor, but it really doesn't matter. They should of used the original ninja voice...
The controls are also a problem at times. I mean, the original metal gear had some camera problems during certian fights. This one lets you go in first person, but holding the z button gets tiring, especially when you have big hands. On top of that, the gun takes forever to get use to. To put it down, you hit "Y". Okay, but this is simply obnoxious(you will understand what I mean the moment you start to use the gun). If this game goes to PS2 I will probably trade this in for that. Pressure sensitive keys are one million times easier. You will probably accidentaly fire your gun alot, and it will become annoying till you get the hang of it.
As for other changes? Well, take MGS2 and think in terms of that for gameplay. Lockers, holding up badguys, hanging from ledges, dropping down like Arnold, and so on.
The new scenes in the game are spread out, but they are worth it. There are a lot of new "matrix" moves. Snake dodges bullets like crazy. Also, there is probably one of the coolest scenes ever between the ninja and Snake after Revolver Ocelot. You basically get to see the ninja pull out that sword stuff. It rocks. Watch the intro to see some new stuff. Also watch those breifings that you probably didn't care about in the first MGS. They are in 3d instead of 2d. More interesting basically.
The graphics are better than MGS2 in certain places. The gun models are fantastic, and they included the M9(tranquilizer), which is a fun gun.
For 40 dollars, this game is worth it. The same story is there, and the gameplay will get much funner once you learn to use guns properly. Well, it is extremely fun because you get to use Snake so much in better sneaking environments. The tanker was alright, but it was too short. There is also plenty of blood for the action fans(booya) and that is a big plus. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Running Out of Time, Indeed..., March 10 2004
This review is from: Running Out of Time (Paperback)
Take a topic, any topic. Toothpaste. You can have moderate fun with toothpaste. Now let's take the novel "Running Out of Time". I would compare this book to eating feces. It isn't pleasent and moves slow. You watch as a girl, in a small facility, decides to step 3 feet from her house. She discovers a wall and learns she's part of an experiment. Seriously, she lives in a really small gymnasium and couldn't figure that out till' she was a teenager.
She basically needs a cure for her friends and sick "1840" citizens. They won't introduce any medicine because it could destroy the "experiment". The experiment is to see if some people can live in 1840 or something. It's stupid because the year is like 2000, and they are pondering if man-kind could live in the 1840's. They could, because mankind is still here in year 2000. The whole book is boring because basically the premise for the book is boring. Capital B boring. No entertainment, just words. It's lifeless and I really disliked reading it. 1 star. Kinda hated it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Boring for quite a while., March 1 2004
Those who have seen this, you can probably agree. The characters in this film are weak. They are bland and lack any real interesting motives. Seriously. Everyone just shows up and bands together to open some demon portal which then leads them to caves and crap.
The animation is fine. The japanese version is okay to my recollection. The English Dub is horrible though. I have never heard such terrible voice acting. Who did the laughs for these characters?
The dubbing obviously doesn't do the series justice. I also think it is relatively boring throughout most. Once it gets near the end things start to pick up. Watch the Japanese version though. Unless you wanna hear that laugh 50 billion times. You know.... HAAAA hahahaa. HAAAA hahahahaha. HAAAA hahahahha. That one, the annoying one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Comedy?, Feb. 25 2004
This review is from: Queens of Comedy (DVD)
I didn't laugh once. Sometimes I didn't even understand how these people became the queens of comedy. Rent the blue collar comedy tour if you want funny. This film starts dry and ends the same way, not funny.
Now, I could assemble 4 people and call them the queens of comedy. Anyone can. These 4 ladies didn't give me one grin. I am not kidding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!, Feb. 23 2004
This review is from: Harmful If Swallowed (Audio CD)
This cd is hilarious. It also comes with a dvd of some of his performances, including the uncut and unedited on he did on Comedy Central. The best thing about it would have to be the fact that Dane Cook is actually funny. Alot of comedians think they have gold when they talk about the races or use ebonics. Dane Cook doesn't use races to make all his jokes. He also is very lively.
On top of all this, Dane Cook actually cares about his fans. I've talked to him on AIM along with millions. He is dedicated to those that admire him, and he clearly dedicates alot of his time after shows talking with people.
Dane Cook is hilarious. This CD/DVD combo is great. Buy it now. 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Comedy that actually Delivers..., Feb. 20 2004
"We don't have a cow!" Jeez, that was hilarious! The entire movie made me laugh. There aren't that many movies with amish people in them.
This does a great job of entertainment. It is funny at the same time though. 5 stars. Especially for Woody Harrelson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, laughs ahoy!, Feb. 20 2004
This review is from: Mystery Men (Widescreen) (DVD)
Ben Stiller, as always, is hilarious. The rest of the cast does a good job too. They all did pretty well. But they make the movie funny.
Basically some average superheroes have to save a real superhero called Captain Amazing. They have a whacky adventure.
I love the superhero tryouts. Dane Cook and that mysterious guy. He was cool.
Great movie though. Lots of funny situations. I don't know how to describe it any more than that.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite comedian actually., Feb. 17 2004
Every time I see his performance on Comedy Central I laugh. 5 times maybe and I am still laughing hysterically. His humor is witty, yet he doesn't always pick out things like current events. I love his pop-tart bit. The things that make him the best are his facial expressions, eye movements, and the tone of his voice. It's masterful, and it's too bad that this CD doesn't show him doing all of that. His dvd is coming out soon though, so cross your fingers for that.
This cd doesn't have the poptart though...
Still, it has alot. All his talk about animals is funny. Especially spider webs. The car stuff is funny too. "Blasting Zone Ahead" and "Seatbelts" are 2 of my favorites.
