1.0 out of 5 stars Too confusing, Jan. 21 2004
This review is from: X TV Series: Volume 1 (DVD)
I don't think this DVD is that great at all. A series in a whole is good. This DVD starts out weird. There are characters you don't know fighting. Then there is a guy invading dreams? Where did that come from? They then show tons of clips of people doing things. You will have no clue who these people are or who they are fighting. A very confusing DVD indeed. You really have to see the series as a whole though to judge it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Weak, Jan. 21 2004
Once again, Hollywood has taken a day of importance and trashed it. The love story lasts the first hour of the movie. During that time there is no action.
The action scene for 45 minutes is alright. Theres few people with blood on them. The bombs look alright but seem to fall under the category of mediocre. Everything looks shameful. The only tragic thing is the music, which is depressing. They didn't show the real way it happened. It was violent and brutal.
The real thing that got to me was the way they tried to make everything dramatic. Cuba shoots down a plane. He cheers wildly. Theres still 137 other planes dude. Then the boys get their planes and shoot down 7 japanese planes. Are we suppose to be impressed? It took them 30 minutes just to get in the air. Pearl Harbor is a day of rememberance. I guess the battle scenes are okay. The problem is the love story.
3 hour movie. 2 hours are love story. 2 hours. 2 hours. 2 hours. Say that to yourself. This is Pearl Harbor, not love connection. I don't care if two guys love the same girl, find a different movie to put that garbage in. Pearl Harbor is about the men who died in their boats, not how a guy and a girl smooched. Save your money. The worst is the ending. Instead of actually showing you what happens they flash an American flag and a dude talks. Then they proceed into another overly-dramatic segment where we see a girl narrarate the story. It wasn't moving at all. 0 stars. O im sorry, due to Amazon I must at least give it 1.

3.0 out of 5 stars Are they really that desperate?, Jan. 21 2004
Every movie is the same now. A guy trys to destroy the world while Bond and a chick try to save it. This is movie 20 I believe. They really lost it though. Pierce is getting too old for this, and it is obvious that he has no material to work off of.

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, Jan. 21 2004
There was a lot more street racing in this, but it sucked. Suki? Who thought of that genius character. She seemed so bad at acting. Maybe it was because her dialogue sucked! This whole movie is bland though. When you hate the characters, you hate the movie. I hated the characters, and you will too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tough Choices, but a little biased., Jan. 20 2004
Perhaps "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (#60) said it best. If you bury a watch in the desert for a thousand years, it becomes treasure. I really find some of this list to be biased towards newer movies. As if newer movies are "garbage" or something. Seriously though...
Citizen Kane won first place. Alright, but have you seen Lord of the Rings? Have you seen the Matrix? I bet they picked out a bunch of older people who just chose movies from their generation. Honestly though... AFI doesn't know best, but it does infuriate me a little when the only movies that make the top 10 are older movies. Gone with the Wind. A classic as some say. I have seen so many love stories that they seem ludacris by now.
Still. Picking one hundred of the best movies would be a hard choice. Unforgiven got #98, but how does that make it worse than #97? It feels a little impossible to create a list like this. It is opinionated. Terminator didn't make the list. Reservoir Dogs is a no. Apparently many films didn't achieve the "top 100" status. I know there are some out there who don't really live their lives. They say things like, "The classics are the best and only good movies!" Wrong. Go watch Die Hard or something, because there is more to life than movies made 60 years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious, possibly the funniest movie of all time!, Jan. 20 2004
The first time I saw this at the theatre... My gosh, everyone was breaking down hysterically. I was laughing my head off. This film is hilarious.
Ben Stiller and De Niro are perfect. Every scene they are in rocks. Everything goes wrong though for Ben. Even Bens name is hilarious.
The movie is great. It gets better as it goes along, and is thoroughly entertaining. 5 stars!

1.0 out of 5 stars Predictable, even before it starts..., Jan. 20 2004
To start, the director did a horrible job of making the film interesting. Sure, there is an under-dog winning in the end. I have seen plenty of uplifting films. The problem is almost everything is predictable to a point of nonsence.
We see the guy watch the chick undress. His vision blurs. I wonder how that will affect his racing... We see a boy driving up a hill with a car coming in the opposite direction. Could they collide? We see Seabiscuit running on a track. Ironically, two men are fixing a very large tractor or somethin directly next to the track. Perhaps something will happen! We see Jeff Bridges looking for a guy to look after sea biscuit. I wonder who that man could be? We see in the papers that there is a horse dominating the races, and Seabiscuit wants to race the horse. I wonder who will win?
I just pointed out 5 or so things that are so predictable right when the movie starts. The film is so lifeless that it drags along in my opinion. WHy do I want to watch this movie if I know who will win. The movie has no comedic moments. There are boring stories going on and maybe one good horse race to speak of. Everything else is boring. Predictable, boring, and lifeless. Wonderful!
Sadly enough though, many people feel that they are obligated to give this film 5 stars because it is "uplifting". It is like giving a child a lolli-pop. Don't expect to be blown away because it is obvious he will be happy.

2.0 out of 5 stars It was alright the first time..., Jan. 20 2004
The second time sucked though. The movie has action for the first few parts, but then it slows to a crawl. The first 20 minutes or so of the movie are really boring. As soon as we learn about Anarchy 99, the movie slows down. Seriously, when the movie isn't in an action scene it is crap. I would write more, but I don't want to waste my time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Underrated!, Jan. 19 2004
I really enjoyed this movie after I watched it again. I remember seeing it a long time ago and hating it. I don't see what makes people hate this movie so much.
The characters are nice. Arnold is really cool and is a great guy. You will probably like the cast. The badguy does a good job. He is evil. Arnold is pretty cool. The action does a fair job of being fast-paced. I enjoyed it. Enjoyable. Thats how I would describe this movie. Very Enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow at the beggining, but all in good time., Jan. 19 2004
I honestly get a little tired of the way the heroes talk to each other. The way Bruenor gruffs at everyone or how everyone is always intrigued by their companions. Once this book gets near the end, it picks up. You really have to read the whole series though to truly appreciate the rest.
The fights are excellent near the end. Entreri seems like a great villian and I was always eager to see how he will combat the heroes. He is much better than that stupid apprentice power-monger(u know who im talking about) and he really does have a good fight or two.
