Bawdy Rhapsody, Dec 23 2009
This book is not for the faint of heart where matters sexual are concerned. Belle is a prostitute and enjoys sex and her descriptions hold very little back in the way of facts but there are no lengthy descriptions of sex acts, just a matter-of-fact relation of what transpired.
What makes the book intriguing, besides the obviously erudite 'voice' of the narrator, is that she manages to make what would seem indecent behaviour to most people seem almost inconsequential to her. It is just her occupation and the book ends up being about her relationships outside her work.
Very worthy of its reputation as a good, light (adult) read ... but not for the faint of heart ...
