I use this chair all the time, but I warn people against this price, which is outrageous. This is double what it should be.

3.0 out of 5 stars Talented group, but .., Feb. 15 2014

This review is from: PTX Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
I became a fan of this group when I watched Sing Off. Off all the groups I'd seen on that show, this one seemed to have the most potential. Where I was disappointed was in the song choice. My mistake was in not listening to sound clips before purchasing this CD. The music is borderline hip hop and pop-ish. I much preferred their Christmas album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great quick read, Feb. 15 2014

The stories from the book are interesting and in some cases, even fun. My only complaints are there were a lot of stories about self-injury, and there were a lot of stories from the same doctors. Yes, the doctors have to diagnose the self-injuries, but in my mind, these are borderline medical mysteries. The chapters are all short and easily read, making it a good book to pick up when you have a few moments to do some reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Book, but......, Feb. 15 2014

If you're reading these reviews it's because you're interested in the topic of forensic anthropology. As that type of book, this one is fascinating. The author relates his experiences in the job, gives real case stories. Some cases were big news headlines. Others historical. And yet others, aftermath of war. As expected, some of the stories are gruesome. The author gives much technical detail and doesn't seem to have a lot of emotion for the victims. Not that it's surprising, given that someone in this profession would have to leave emotions at the door to stay sane.

However, I do agree with other reviews that state the author has an incredibly overactive ego. In almost every chapter, he lists his accomplishments with relation to the topic. The first chapter, relatively long, goes over his qualifications and accomplishments. Throughout, he infers that nothing in the subject would be accomplished without his participation. And the final chapter is completely about how the world will end because he's going to retire. The lab won't survive without him and there will be nobody to train the next generation of forensic anthropologists. If you have watched the TV show "Bones", you are aware of the ego of the main character. Well, multiply that ego by a few dozen times and you'll come close to this author's ego. Though Maples passed away a couple of years after this book was first published, the lab is still in operation and quite obviously, there are still forensic anthropologists around. Maybe there's a bit of irony in the title!

This book would have been much better if the ego had been left out and more stories told.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book, Jan. 19 2014

This is quickly becoming a "go to" book for recipes. The first recipe I tried was the ginger shortbread. Cookies were a HUGE hit at Christmas. Probably one of the best cookies I've had/made. I've tried a couple of other recipes and both were really good. No pictures, which is too bad, but the recipes work, so easy to give them a go. The banana cake recipe was ever so slightly fiddly, but was well worth the extra effort. You cannot go wrong with this book and it is money well spent in this day and age of online recipes (that usually don't work so well).

1.0 out of 5 stars not a fan, Sept. 5 2013
The theory behind this style of coffee pod is good. Instead of a plastic K-cup, the pod is rounded on the bottom and the entire bottom of the pod is filter. More filter area should make for better coffee. Alas, the biggest problem with this design is that because the coffee does not just drip out of a hole in the bottom, it drips out of the entire pod. Which means that coffee is dribbling all through the pod holder areas of any of the keurig style machines, which means that coffee does not just come out of the hole into your mug, it comes out of every crack and orifice in the pod holder. if you use these pods, make sure you have a very wide mouthed mug and be prepared for some clean up.

3.0 out of 5 stars predictable, Aug. 26 2013
This was a good book that kept me turning the pages. However...it was very predictable. You knew what the outcome was going to be early on, perhaps even from the opening page. The only thing in question was the path to that end. The path itself was gruesome and twisted, but the book still took you from Point A to Point B. And that's the reason I only gave it three stars. Not one of the best books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars great thriller, July 27 2013
Mofina has penned a book that is suspenseful and stomach churning. The suspense lies not in the "who dunnit" because we know early on who the killer is. The suspense is in knowing who the killer is and reading how he weaves through the lives of other people without being caught. You wonder how long it will be before the police figure it out or even if he will be captured at all. And who will survive it all? This is a great thriller that kept me turning pages late at night.
