If you follow the Dark series, you won't be disappointed!
I don't think it would be a good choice to start the series with though

I did not realize there are two short stories in this book. Kind of disappointing.

This is the first book to the "Game" series, so there is more plot development that carries over to the rest of the series. It is a great book, although it is a romance book it is full of adventure and suspense. It is a well written page turner, the story line is strong enough to keep you wanting more. The rest of the series does not disappoint either.
