3.0 out of 5 stars I didn't expect 2 CDs!!, Feb 9 2011
This review is from: Angelic (Audio CD)
When I ordered this item, being a long time fan of Kelley Armstrong, I was excited that the pricepoint was so low for an audiobook--if you do a little more research (which I did NOT before ordering), you will find that "Angelic" is a novella, and the audiobook is only 2 CDs long.

It's an interesting story about Eve, and it's cool to learn some more about her character after death... but I was expecting something longer, like a full novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Old Edition, Feb 9 2011
This book is an old edition, and thus I got it for free at a used book "giveaway" at my university. Don't buy it, buy the newer edition, because this one will likely not be acceptable for your class--politics change!!

1.0 out of 5 stars With a cover like this one..., Aug 24 2005
The phrase "never judge a book by its cover" is usually true. However, in the case of this novel, its quality can be judged before its even opened.

The first thing you see upon picking up this book is what looks like a baywatch girl, with glowy red eyes, and ridiculous, laughable fangs, weraing what looks like a haloween vampire costume. As pathetic and unappealing as this cover art is, it reflects all that you'll find inside.

I was originally drawn to this book for the fact that its protagonist is a female vampire, narrated in the first person (a fairly interesting, rare appraoch to a vampire novel). Unfortunately, Deirdre is one of the most unlikeable protagonists I've come across. Her attempts to fit in the 'real world' have gotten her by for ten years, but her complete ignorance of everything vampire is appalling, and her demented view of the world is not one that any reader should have to experiance. Her character reads like one from a harlequinn romance, only with the "vampire" thing thrown in as a side as to appeal to fans of other genres.

The reader struggles to find something interesting about the mundane life of this character, and within no time at all, mysterious murders start happening, and... who better to solve them then our blithering lead character, Deirdre! (who names their characters things like Deirdre anyway...) What should be an interesting story arc, turns far-fetched and drawn out (not to mention, stupid) at a frighteningly rapid pace.

The whole book is ridiculous and completely idiotic. I am a big fan of books by LAurell K. Hamilton, and this appeared to be similar, not so. I actually feel insulted to be a part of the audience this author, publisher, god knows who else expected this book to appeal to.

I picked this book up for $1 at a clearance book warehouse, and trust me, it's not even worth that. SAve your time, save your money, don't buy this.
