5.0 out of 5 stars All The Stars in Heaven, April 20 2004
Some moron who writes about a dozen reviews a day has dissed this book. Obviously, he didn't count on me coming to it's defense! This book does quite a thorough job of dismantling Chrisinanity, and backs up all its claims with painstaking research. After finishing this book, there can be no doubt that it is 100% true in every particular.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Critique, Oct. 30 2003
This review is from: House of Cards (Paperback)
Dawes starts with the conclusion he wants to prove, and then selects only studies which agree with it. We call this begging the question, or affirming the consequent. He ignores myriad studies, including those conducted by NIMH, which prove that Cognitive Therapy IS effective. Dr. Aaron Beck and Dr. Albert Ellis have pioneered new forms of therapy. To dismiss them out-of-hand is short-sighted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gave Me My Start, Oct. 22 2003
I'm happy to write this review, because this book, and Tom Hopkins, gave me my start in selling. Zig has studied selling assiduously since the 1950's, taken copious notes, and condensed them into what is essentially an encyclopedia. It's entertaining, informative, and it works! I haven't read his latest opus, Ziglar on Selling, but look forward to doing so in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, Oct. 22 2003
I notice a lot of negative reviews by people who aren't worthy to shine Tom's shoes. This book made the careers of many sales professionals, and deserves to be treated with respect. I went through several copies in the early 80's, replete with underlining. Of course there has been progress in selling since them! Does that mean that we need to diss those who have contributed to the advancement of this profession?
As far as substance, Tom explains each of the stages of salesmanship in simple, but not simplistic, terms. It is as good an introduction to the field as any you are likely to find. It is up there with Zig's best. And, I might add, Zig and Tom would pay homage to Frank Bettger, Elmer Wheeler and other pioneers who blazed the trail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, Oct. 21 2003
This review is from: The Case for Israel (Hardcover)
In this brilliant work, Professor Doctor Dershowitz makes the case for Israel (as if one needed to be made!) and makes it beyond a reasonable doubt. Reading some of the absurd critical reviews, one can not help but conclude that there is a concerted effort on the part of the enemy to discredit this work. Unfortunately for the enemy, the book is so well written as to defy criticism!
Thank you Professor Dershowitz for setting the world straight!

1.0 out of 5 stars Whine, Whine, Whine, Aug. 21 2003
"I must have all of my wishes filled; whine, whine, whine." From reading this book, Andrew Solomon comes over as a spoiled rich brat, who looks for answers to his depression everyplace but inside himself. This is typical of immature people who want a pill to do it all for them, but refuse to do the hard work of confronting their own mistaken attitudes and beliefs. All of Andrew's whining is merely symptomatic of his resistance to therapy. If he went to a good cognitive therapist, he could be cured in 5 - 6 sessions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicky Knows The Score, July 30 2003
This review is from: Ask The Headhunter (Paperback)
Got to hand it to you, Nicky baby! When it comes to the REAL WORLD, You know the score! All these negative reviews are from people who have their heads buried in the sand.
To you readers out there, let me put it bluntly. You can go on doing what you've been doing, sending out thousands of resumes with no results, or you can do the HARD WORK that Nicky tells you to do. If you're not willing to do that, don't blame Nicky if you get bupkis in return.
Nicky, You the Man! FIVE STARS!

1.0 out of 5 stars Parable Form Does Not Suit Dr. Dyer, July 21 2003
This review is from: Gifts From Eykis (Paperback)
I have read and enjoyed virtually of all of Wayne's major works. However, I feel compelled to give this book a 1-star review. Why? Because Wayne simply does not write well in this format. Compared to Masterpieces like "The Prophet", "Gifts from Eykis" is a joke.

Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith
by Jon Krakauer
Edition: Hardcover
Price: CDN$ 23.20
87 used & new from CDN$ 1.45

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book, July 14 2003
This is an amazing book, written with all the excitement of Krakauer's previous work. It tells a great story about fanaticism and murder in the Mormon Church. The author has taken great pains to present a fair picture, but it is still damning nonetheless. I urge all readers of "Into Thin Air" to get this book at once!

1.0 out of 5 stars Hampered by Bad Writing, July 10 2003
I must say I've seen the same philosophy explained better elsewhere. You would be well advised to go to the primary sources, because this book is so poorly written it's unreadable. Check out my reviews and you will see I give as many 5-star reviews as 1-star reviews, but I can't recommend this book.
