2.0 out of 5 stars not good like the first two, Feb. 7 2004
This review is from: Critters 3 [Import] (DVD)
As you may know there are some B movies that consist of pointless sequels. There are also B movies that after a sequel, the series takes a nose dive. This is the category that Critters 3 falls into. First off, I realize that B movies are not to be taken serious to some degree but this movie went over the boundary line in that department. Critters 3 takes a break from the plot of the first two (Superman 3, anyone?) but that doesn't ruin the movie. In fact, the only returning character is Charlie. And folks, if you want to see this movie just because Leo Decaprio is in it then you are making a mistake. His acting is not enough to save this film. Anyway, one viewer pointed out some obvious plot holes such as Charlie becoming sheriff at the end of Critters 2 which is completely ignored in this movie. Come to think of it, I don't think Critters 3 even took place in Grover's Bend, Kansas (the same as the first two). Also, there were some critter eggs that just happen to appear under a man's truck that are unknowingly taken to an appartment complex in which later on the critters start to wreck havoc all over the place. Critters finishes with a "to be continued" ending. Critters 3 & 4 were filmed back to back just incase anyone was wondering though make no mistake... you really don't have to see this movie to understand what is happening in Crittes 4. Yes, that's right. As far as I'm concerend it would be better to go on to Critters 4 after watching Critters 2. Critters 3 is a direct-to-video film and for those who still want to see it, you will find out why.

5.0 out of 5 stars a unique Santa Claus film, Dec 11 2003
I have been a Tim Allen fan ever since Home Improvement and in the Santa Clause Tim still manages to bring a good dose of humor. I don't think a Santa Clause story has been told quite like this one and that is why I like this movie so much. the Santa Clause is definately good for family get-togethers over the holidays. Whether you are a Tim Allen fan or not you should still enjoy this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Classic !, Dec 11 2003
Honestly, how can anyone get tired of watching this? HTGSC comes on every year and every year I shall continue to watch it. I have always liked reading books as a kid from Dr. Seuss and the Grinch is definately one of his best along with Cat in the Hat. Parents, this DVD is a good Christmas gift for your children no matter what age they are.

5.0 out of 5 stars a favorite for years, Dec 11 2003
This review is from: The Mighty Ducks 3-Pk (DVD)
Everything about the Mighty Ducks is pretty much good. The characters, the plot, and even the music these movies are great. Though the Mighty Ducks are Disney films, they contain enough content to push a PG-13 rating. Still though, teens and adults should like these movies whether you are an ice hockey fan or not. Yes, the Mighty Ducks is mainly about ice hockey but all three do a good job focusing on the characters. I know that some people didn't give good reviews for the third movie but I think that was because it didn't quite carry the "victory hype" of the first two. Also, the third Mighty Ducks film is a bit different in the sense that it shows how the hardships of life and the bad decisions that follow can have an impact on the other people around you. Plus, the message of the third movie is that change happens throughout life and you must learn how to deal with it. So to sum all of that up, don't expect the 3rd movie to be exactly similar with the first two but do keep an open mind when viewing because the Mighty Ducks 3 is good for what it is. Without question, Mighty Ducks 3 ends the trilogy. I still wish that a 4th movie had been made following the events of the last movie. By the way, I suggest getting the soundtracks for the 2nd and 3rd Mighty Ducks. It's ashame the first movie didn't have a soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars not bad for a live action version, Dec 11 2003
I wasn't sure what to think of this when I first saw it but I can say that the live action version of HTGSC made a decent effort as far as holding up to the original. Jim Carrey definately steals the show for the most part (no pun intended). The other characters however did not hold up well enough in my opinion to make this a superb movie. Kids will certainly enjoy this to the fullest but adults may only be amused by Jim Carrey's performance and not much else. Don't get me wrong, this movie is good for family get-togethers over the holidays. The special features on the DVD are a definate plus which is why I'm giving HTGSC a 4th star. As I said before, Jim Carrey fans will be pleased with this and I don't think anyone else could have pulled off the Grinch the way he did.

5.0 out of 5 stars ranks up with the first two despite the negative reviews, Nov. 23 2003
This review is from: Home Alone 3 (Widescreen) (DVD)
Is there really a good reason to trash this movie? Sure, Home Alone 3 is a whole new story with a different family but c'mon... how much more could the original plot have gone on with the McCallister family and the Wet Bandits? This movie delivered what the previous Home Alones had: a good story, humor, creativity, and four crooks opposed to just two. If you keep an open mind and not criticize this movie for not being related to the first two, then you will definately enjoy Home Alone 3. It's too bad Home Alone 4 wasn't a continuation of this movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars as good if not better than the first, Nov. 23 2003
So then why do I only give it 4 out of 5 stars? It's because of the DVD version. I couldn't tell any difference between the unrated version and the theatrical version. It seems like the unrated title was slapped onto the cover just so more copies would sell. Anyway, on with the review: As I said in my title, Full Throttle definately lives up to it's predecessor. The returning characters in Full Throttle are Bosley who this time is played by Bernie Mac, which I prefered him as Bosley over Bill Murray and the Thin Man played again by Crispin Glover from the first movie. Demi Moore does a good job playing the sexy villain. The new disguieses and the motorcyle race are also a plus. I can't believe the number of people who gave negative reviews towards this movie! In my opinion, Full Throttle is one of many examples on how sequels aren't always a bad idea. As for specail features on the DVD, the unrated and theatrical version aren't much different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Babes Kickin' Butt, Nov. 23 2003
You don't have to be familiar with the original Charlie's Angels to enjoy this movie. This is no doubt a great action comedy with martial arts and good special effects. Finally, we get to see secret agent women bringing justice to modern day criminal activity. Another thing I like about this movie is some of the gadgets that are used along with the different disguises that the angels wear. Teens and adutls should both enjoy Charlie's Angels.

3.0 out of 5 stars one good movie, Nov. 9 2003
This review is from: One Good Cop (DVD)
Michael Keaton has been in some good movies and this is one of them. One Good Cop is more of an action drama than a "shoot em/kill em" type movie. It has a good story and you care about what happens to the characters. If you are a Michael Keaton fan or just like entertaining cop stories then this movie is one to see.

4.0 out of 5 stars an equally great sequel for the most part, Oct. 19 2003
John Belushi died shortly after playing his character Jake Blues in the 1980 hit Blues Brothers. Even though I can understand why it took a good while to make a sequel I still can't believe it took neary 20 years to do so! Anyway, Blues Brothers 2000 pretty much delivers good music as well as comedy and even though the police chases aren't quite as thrilling like the first Blues Brothers, this movie still ranks up there with an extra amount of humor. The ending of Blues Brothers 2000 is left wide open for another sequel which hopefully is in the works.
