A real eye-opener!, Oct 10 2012
My entire concept of 'art' was expanded by this film. The earth is his canvas. He creates miracles of imagination that never intrude on the Nature in which they take place. Many of his creations last only moments before they are swept away by wind or tide. Somehow, this ephemeral quality of his art adds poignancy and depth to the fleeting beauty of what it was. It's not surprising that he is the inventor of rock balancing. But that doesn't stop him from using snow and petals either. Nor miles of curving cairns that will last for hundreds of years. Andy's inner child is completely out in the open. Playful and exploring, but with the patience and persistence of a man. Kudos to his possibly long-suffering wife who lives with such a spontaneous person.

Love conquers all, Mar 8 2011
Punch is an unusual, thought provoking film in which reactions to deep childhood trauma are contrasted. The useful aspects of violence and hate as survival tools are counterpointed with the healing power of love and compassion. The film is well-written and directed (Guy Bennett),and the acting rises to the challenge of the dialogue and plot. Sonja Bennett perfectly embodies her role of an obnoxious, troubled teen. It's a tough movie with a warm heart.

a gem for thinkers, April 8 2007
This quaint and elegant little film almost dodders along, like the main character, and slowly, heart-stoppingly, even embarrassingly creeps to a brilliant, multi-dimension conclusion that provides huge amounts of thought-provoking fresh ideas and feelings mostly about values and what they really mean. Every one of the actors is superb, perfectly cast. The atmosphere is old fashioned, so well captured that it's hard to believe this is a new production - and yet, the main idea couldn't be more relevant to today. Very amazing and very unusual. Thank you to all involved in creating this gem.

Gripping swashbuckler with depth, Sep 20 2005
This beautifully filmed movie seamlessly transports the audience to the days of the pirates. Along with the interesting, authentic details (my favourite is the revelation of the nautical term "knots" to measure vessel speed) there are plenty of swashbucking action scenes, as well as, more importantly to the discriminating viewer, emotional tear-jerks about the young-yet-noble cabin-boy, PLUS an intellectual challenge framed between the two main characters concerning the moral question of duty vs friendship (and scientific discovery). Great actors in a riveting film that has something for everyone!

Madcap Satire, Sep 14 2005
Ali G Indahouse is fresh, original and funny in a silly-but-still-thought provoking way, which doesn't happen often. The actor who plays Ali G is a comedic genius, kind of in the style of Yahoo Serious in Young Einstein, or the Monty Python crew in the Life of Brian. If you like those films, you'll love this one. On top of that, the sound track is wicked, mon!
