This is not only one of the worst animated series I have ever seen, it is pulled even lower by its association with Stargate (the movie). For those who are fans of the TV shows, this is based on the movie, not on the TV shows, so continuity with the show isn't an issue. But even keeping that in mind I only managed to force my way through the first several episodes before I gave up in disgust. I'd been hoping for something similar to Gargoyles in style and writing quality, but sadly it wasn't to be:(.

Everyone has different tastes - and some people like things that I don't - but I can't believe anyone would enjoy this DVD release. I recommend against purchasing this, especially if you are a fan of the Stargate movie. Seeing these low quality, poorly written, atrociously (voice) acted animated shows sometimes ruins the experience of watching the movie that spawned them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not buying this..., Jun 26 2008
I won't be buying this because of the enormous price discrepancy between the Canadian and the American versions. I'm willing to pay ~10% more for the Canadian version - due to extra costs they'll pick up like having to print French/English covers just for the Canadian market and such things - but that's it. This particular DVD is 34.4% more expensive in Canada than the US.

Conclusion? Don't buy it. The only way we can speak to these crooked distribution companies is to abstain from their products. Maybe then they'll get the picture.

I'll note that the Stargate: The Ark of Truth DVD started off with this same price discrepancy, but they adjusted it down to around 10% once they got a giant flood of complaints. You'd think they'd have learnt something from that experience, given that the exact same people who bought SG:tAoT are potential customers for this DVD set as well.

Will Amazon and MGM NEVER learn?

I love this season of gargolyes:). I was however a little surprised at how expensive this Volume is; given the price of the first season I was not expecting this high price. Still, it is well worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it, Sep 28 2005
Having seen most (perhaps all) of the Gargoyle episodes 2 or 3 times each, I almost didn't buy this DVD, but I'm so glad I did! I had forgotten just how powerful (not to mention cool) this series was. I fully plan to buy both parts of season two.

One bad thing about this DVD: I'm not sure whether or not it has to do with my particular computer and its DVD player, but when I click the "select episode" button it takes a loooong time for the screen to load. For a while I didn't think it worked at all. Still, this could be the fault of my ancient DVD-ROM.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book in a while, Feb 1 2005
This review is from: Going Postal (Audio CD)
I didn't really enjoy Night Watch; it was a little bit too dark for me. For some reason my sister loved it though.

This book on the other hand really captured me. I love the characters (in particular Moist's chain smoking girlfriend, and her golem friends), the places, the weird technology that the discworld engineers fabricate, and even the wizards who should NEVER be trifled with.

This is a wonderful book for pretty much anyone. I would highly recommend it. Especially if you collect stamps;).

4.0 out of 5 stars Not his worst work by far..., Oct 17 2004
I agree with one of the other reviews who stated that this book is young adult level. But that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable.

This book, and the previous one in the series, have regained some of the page turning quality that Feist's early books had. I had a hard time working my way though several of his more recent books (read: Tear of the Gods and related novels).

Neither 'King of Foxes' nor 'Talon of the Silver Hawk' have this problem. All in all they are a decent read, but not really something a hardcore fantasy reader would like. If you like George R.R. Martin's works then this series is not for you. If you like lighter reading, like Modesitt, Goodkind, and Brooks, then you will probably find this a fun read:).

3.0 out of 5 stars Look in the mirror..., Mar 14 2003
Many of the reviewers are criticizing this book for its "rewriting" of Midkemian history. Events that were described in previous books are changed. Remember though, that this kind of thing happens all the time in real life.

History textbooks are often rewritten, sometimes contradicting 'facts' that everyone knew from previous editions! If you read a history text of Alaska from 50 years ago, you will find that most of it was made up because the authors didn't know what really happened.

This just adds another dimension to Feists work. The characters tend to be very real, often making the some mistakes that we would in the same situation (if we didn't have our omnipotent view as readers:-)). Sometimes characters forget vital information. They lie, cheat, steal, and yes, even die. I find this far more realistic than a saga like the Lord of the Rings (not to knock it down or anything; I liked it), where the good guys are all perfectly good, not to mention immortal, and the bad guys are totally evil.

I found this book to be highly entertaining. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who read the Riftwar series by Feist.

However, this book, and the rest of the series, may bore readers who are not interested in the political and logistical side of warfare. If you like pure action, then this book is not for you. If you like political intrigue, as well as interesting descriptions of places, events, and people, then you will love this book.

Wurts is one of the best fantasy authors around today.
