This is an excellent book on Jakarta Struts. Wrox publishers and the authors had done an excellent job in explaining the concepts of Jakarata struts. the book begins with servlet containers, jsps (upto 2 chapters) and how the struts fits into the scheme of things. the book goes into different aspects of the struts, the MVC, and the controller concepts. there are a lot of examples to explain the concepts for people of various expertise and background. the book also shows how to debug in 2 different environments such as eclipse and Jidea. the authors have shown how to create a new application from scratch in the last chapter and that is an excellent way to implement a Jakarta struts application. this book is a great reference book.

The author's first edition was a great reference and the second edition is a better book addressing all aspects of servlet programming and JSP. the flows of topics is very smooth and letting a beginner like me understand all aspects of the servlet programming and JSP easily. the author takes the trouble to explain all the difficult concepts of servlet programming in the easiest possible way. this is an excellent reference book and I am excited to recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn and program using servlets and JSP. this will book has found a place in my reference shelf. the author has taken the trouble to explain integration of MVC modeling using Servlets and JSP. there are additional chapters about implementation of JDBC with commercial database engines such as Access, MySQL, and Oracle 9i. this book is a great buy for the price and is a great reference book.

Please rate the instructional value of the book from 1-5: 4=I would recommend this book to someone interested in its topic. This is an excellent book for beginners of Javascript. it takes simplest of the cases without boggling the minds of the readers. when I learnt javacript more than 4 years back, Ihad a hard time reading through 'verbose' books. I wish I had this book at that time.
This author has taken the time to explain the concepts in the simplests of the ways. there are adequate screen prints to highlight the results of the executed javascript code. the author explains the document object model clearly for the benefit of the beginners and also explains different ways of identifying the items in the page. This is an excellent reference book for intermediate javascript programmers adn this book has found a place in my reference shelf and I will be glad to recommend this book to anybody interested in learning Javascript.

Book Review Form Title:The Java Developer's Guide to ECLIPSE Edition:2nd Printing Author:Shavor, Sherry; D'Anjou, Jim; Fairbrother, Scott; Kehn, Dan; Kellerman, John, and McCarthy, Pat City: Boston Publisher: Addison-Wesley Published Date: June 2003 Reviewer Name:Ravi Mahalingam ... Review Date: 25 Aug 2003. Please Rate the overall value of the book from 1-5 where 5=Well done! This book will be a valuable teaching and reference tool. Please rate the instructional value of the book from 1-5 where 5=Excellent! An essential book on this topic. Please rate the reference value of this book from 1-5 where 5=A complete reference. I would not need any additional reference on this topic. This book is a well done book that explains all the principles and features of ECLIPSE and how it can be used for developing Java applications. ECLIPSE being a sophisticated tool needs some guide to take new users to exploit all the features of the tool. The authors have diligently explained all the nuances of the tool and have taken the trouble to show screen prints of the tools to show how the features work. They have explained how to add external tools/use plugins etc. they have gone 1 step ahead to show how the ActiveX technology can be incorporated with the ECLIPSE tool. this is an excellent book and I plan to have it as a part of my bookshelf. I plan to use this book to create java applications at my work place.

Fantastic Java book for scientists and engineers, July 25 2003
Please Rate the overall value of the book from 1-5 where 5=Well done! This book will be a valuable teaching and reference tool. Please rate the instructional value of the book from 1-5 where 4=I would recommend this book to someone interested in its topic. Please rate the reference value of this book from 1-5 where 4=This book has earned a valued place on my reference shelf. Write a minimum of three paragraphs describing the different aspects of this book. this book is an excellent book on java for a person with scientific and engineering background like me. Having written programs in FORTRAN and C, it is delight to know that someone is out there ready to publish a book like this to dispell myths that Java can be used for making GUI screens or writing EJB components to be put on the server for database access etc. After explaining the constructs of the languages in the 1st few chapters with a scientific slant, the author takes up complicated numerical methodss algorithm and shows java can be used for the same. if a person like integration, differentiation, numerical methods, FT .. sorry fourier transformation, and is interested in learning java, this book is a worthwhile book and a must have for your reference shelf. this is an excellent book and I would like to thank the author for thinking of engineering/scientific oriented people like me. ********end of review**************

Decent book., Jun 30 2003
This book offers a step by step process of installing the Tomcat webserver to Unix (primarily) and Windows servers. at every stage, the authors have taken the time to include the information about windows operating system. the authors have taken the time to arrange the flow of the chapters to match the events in a real world server configuration exercise of an apache. the book also describes the differences in the versionf of Apache for the benefit of users. In all, the book is good material for the not-so experienced apache users like me. regards Ravi Mahalingam Columbia, SC Java Users group.
