2.0 out of 5 stars Twilight Potter Davinci Code, March 22 2011
This review is from: A Discovery Of Witches (Hardcover)
I know that to really enjoy a novel like this, one must have a pretty sizeable "suspension of disbeleif" - but come on! The most wonderful, handsome vampire that ever lived, who just happened to go to high school with Jesus and was best friends with everyone from Copernicus to Shakespeare to Elvis, just *happens* to fall madly in love with the most talented, deeply gifted, every-possible-power-posessing witch?? Really? Oh yeah and he's the head of some super secret agency that has controled the world for millenia. *facepalm*

He's also secretive, overprotective, controling, etc, and she turns into a total damsel-in-distress. So familiar. She's the misunderstood orphan who doesnt know how powerful her magic is. She doesnt quite live in a cupboard under the stairs, but close.

Quick summary:
This is basicically Twilight with grown up characters, Bella is Harry Potter, and they crack the Davinci Code.

1.0 out of 5 stars should have called it DOWN, Dec 13 2010
This review is from: Up (DVD)
Where to start? The adult themes in this movie are horribly depressing and not appropriate for children at all.

The ones that stick out in my memory: a couple deals with infertility, the death of his wife, elder abuse, isolation, and the little boy - child neglect (who is watching this kid????), abandonment (deadbeat dad), marital breakdown (broken home). And to top it all off they get to fight off a SERIAL KILLER.

This was like an animated episode of Criminal Minds. It's terrible. There was one funny bit in the whole movie, the talking dog. He sees a squirrel and his head whips around and he says "Squirrel". That's it, that is the total of the comedy in this movie.
