5.0 out of 5 stars Hannah doesn't dissapoint., June 23 2003
For those of us that don't want anything to trivial, but just wants to get lost in a book. This is it (or anything written by Hannah). I love the settings, California and Washington are so vividly described. It starts with the main character, Annie going through some life changes, then finding herself, and finally letting everyone else know who she is. It is a great book if you've ever started your life over, or ever wanted to. This book shows a womans real strength, even if you don't think you have it in you, you probably do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read the book first then watch the movie!!, June 18 2003
Movies rarely make exactly like a book, and this is no exception, but I think that in order to get a glimpse into the meaning of the movie the book has to be read first. First, Michelle Pfieffer is a dead ringer of her character, Ingrid. It took some patience for me to get through the whole book because everything is very descriptive from the weather, to the the places, to the characters, and especially to the feelings and thoughts of Astrid. This book gives insight into the foster system and how it shapes a person. One doesn't have control of where they might live from day to day and whether or not they might eat. But its also about the bond of a mother and daughter, one that is hard to break or sometimes to even bend. Its about control and the consequences of your choices.

This review is from: Between Sisters (Hardcover)
Okay, this book not a pensive one, but I fell in love with the characters. I bought it yesterday and finished it last night. I could not put it down because I wanted to know what happened next. It made me laugh and cry. Truly a story about family in general, sisters specifically, but more than that its about love.
